It’s hard to believe we’re so close to 911 returning with season 10! Now that we’re much closer to the Oct. 15 premiere, we’re looking forward to what the pivotal season will bring for many of the characters, including some longtime characters such as Corinne Massiah's May Grant.
After watching her grow from season 1, when she was barely 14 and dealing with high school bullies, to working with Dispatch, losing her stepfather Captain Robert “Bobby” Nash, and then finding love with firefighter Ravi Panikkar, May has brought so much to the show in her own way. What could season 10 look like for her?
In the fall preview for TVLine, showrunner Tim Minear teased some of May’s storyline. He confirmed in a short teaser that both she and Ravi would be going strong as she worked toward becoming a nurse. He said her new career as a nurse would see her being thrown into the deep end as soon as we see her. So how did May’s career in nursing begin?
In season 9, May was struggling to figure out what she wanted to do as a career path. At first, she thought about getting a law degree like her mom, Athena Grant (Angela Bassett), almost did. However, she has previously helped in emergency situations such as saving a woman in the season 3 tsunami episodes, and most recently, she helped triage patients during an emergency while her mom was in space.
Having worked in Dispatch as well, May knows how to speak to people who need help in terrifying situations. So seeing how she does as a nurse is something we’re looking forward to.
This will be an exciting time for May as we see how she works in a new environment, where she may even cross paths with the 118 more often when they come in for calls. Plus, it could make for some fun moments of seeing how May and her boyfriend, Ravi, interact when they are both in a professional setting.
May has grown so much since we have seen her in the pilot episode of 911. She has always been trying to find where she belongs, and after watching her struggle to find her footing, fans are excited to see this new opportunity for her when the new season begins.
