Season 9 of ABC's popular firefighter drama 911 had its ups and downs. Some exciting, jaw-dropping moments left us on the edge of our seats, while others unfortunately missed the mark. But whether you loved or hated it, season 9 was definitely memorable. From Hen and Athena getting stranded in space to Buck fostering his biological son, the show had episodes that will be hard to forget.
Season 9 also introduced new characters that we both loved and loved to hate, and reminded us of beloved old ones. However, now that the show has been renewed for season 10, it's unlikely we'll see these five characters return.
Kameron and Connor Riley
This is relatively obvious, but it's highly unlikely we will see Kameron and Connor Riley return for season 10 of 911.
The couple was killed in a car accident in season 9, episode 17, titled "I GOT YOU BABE." As a result, Buck decided to foster their son and his biological child, Theo. Buck's new role as a father will most likely be an integral part of his season 10 arc as he adjusts to fatherhood and relies on his support system for help.
Now, it's always possible the two could return in a dream sequence, but again, it's unlikely.
Tripp Hauser
In season 9, Mark Consuelos starred as tech billionaire Tripp Hauser in one of 911's craziest storylines ever.
In a four-episode arc, Athena and Hen traveled to space onboard Hauser's rocket ship. The trip was the tech billionaire's way of saying thank you to Hen for saving his life after being trapped in the belly of a whale while kayaking. However, Athena and Hen ended up fighting for their lives after debris hit their capsule, leaving them floating in space for days while the 118 worked to help them.
The fallout Tripp faced after Athena and Hen safely returned to Earth makes it unlikely that we will see more of the character in season 10. Given that his irresponsibility put Athena and Hen in danger in the first place, we won't be shedding any tears over Tripp's exit.
SARA
In season 9, episode 8, titled "War," the 911 call center got a new assistant in the form of an A.I. program named SARA. Maddie and her colleagues were required to help integrate SARA into the dispatch center by having her assist with real-life calls. Eventually, SARA went rogue and took over the call center until Maddie saved the day.
SARA not returning for season 10 is more of a wish than anything. It was scary how quickly the system took over the call center and how hard Maddie had to work to shut it down. Not to mention, SARA wasn't even helpful. She gave out terrible advice to callers that put them in more danger than they were already in. It was almost as if she were trying to harm them on purpose.
It will be better for everyone if she doesn't return.
1. Bobby Nash
As much as we'd LOVE to see Bobby return for season 10, we know that it's probably unlikely that will happen.
The most obvious reason is that the character died in season 8 after sacrificing his life to save Chimney (Kenneth Choi). The death came as a shock to many, with fans continuing to grieve the loss of the character a year later.
Peter Krause also has a new show called Line of Fire, airing on NBC this fall. The show follows a family of law enforcement agents as they investigate a deadly conspiracy that threatens to upend their world. In addition to Krause, the cast includes Charlie Barnett, Taylor Bloom, Kat Cunning, Hope Davis, and Tommy O'Brien.
The two shows premiering in the fall might mean they shoot around the same time, making it hard for Krause to film anything for 911.
Season 10 of 911 premieres Thursday, Oct. 15, at 8/7c on ABC.
