Over the years, there have been many different couples that have stolen our hearts on 911. There's Bobby and Athena, Maddie and Chimney, Hen and Karen, Buck and Tommy (well, temporarily), and others that added some romantic tension to the first responder procedural. But season 9 just gave us another new couple to swoon over, and it's one we didn't see coming.
The 911 and 911: Nashville crossover episodes gave fans a lot to talk about, but most especially progression on the show's best new couple in years. In 911 season 9 episode 11, May (Corinne Massiah) stepped in to help whip the boys of the 118 into shape for the bachelor auction, and while spending time at the firehouse, sparks flew between her and Ravi (Anirudh Pisharody).
During the auction, May got jealous of the other women bidding on Ravi and ended up placing the highest bid and winning a date with him all to herself. Well, their relationship has started moving forward, and in season 9 episode 12, they were caught in quite an intimate setting by May's younger brother Harry (Elijah M. Cooper). The episode further proved this is the couple we didn't know we needed.
May and Ravi are the best new couple on 911 season 9
When Harry uses his key to enter May's apartment with a delivery of donuts, he unexpectedly runs into Ravi walking out of her kitchen holding a tray of food. Oh, and he's fully naked! Ravi's equally surprised to run into Harry, startling him and sending the contents of the tray into the air. He uses the tray to cover himself, but the awkwardness of the situation can't be recovered.
May comes out of her bedroom wearing a red silk robe, and it's obvious what has happened between May and Ravi. Honestly, when season 9 began, most of us probably wouldn't have even thought to ship May and Ravi together, but ending up here naturally is helping breathe new life into the show and its large ensemble, especially as the ABC drama approaches its upcoming tenth season.

It's been a while since a significant new couple has been introduced on the show, and while some fans are still holding out hope and keeping their fingers crossed for Buddie to happen eventually, turning the romantic attention to supporting characters couldn't be a smarter move to make. 911 doesn't often utilize May and Ravi as often as they should, and this gives them a chance to shine.
Massiah and Pisharody are frequently tasked with backing up other members of the main cast, but getting a story like this, and a ship that should soon become a favorite among fans, helps expand the world of the show. Not to mention, a new relationship taking shape takes the pressure on the writers constantly having to mess with the personal lives of characters who have been through a lot.
Even though May and Ravi's relationship is only in its early days, the potential for future storylines is an exciting prospect. I'm already prepared to go all in with this pairing! Protect them at all costs, allow them happiness, and make them endgame. Sure, you could say it's no fun when most of the characters are coupled off in solid relationships, but that's simply not true for 911.
