The 118 is taking a night off tonight, but here's when 911 returns with new episodes
While all other networks have new episodes of their top shows tonight, Thursday, Oct. 31, that’s not the case for ABC. 911 and the rest of TGIT is taking a night off.
It’s all about Halloween, and ABC likely feels like a lot of viewers are going to head out trick-or-treating. So, rather than risk the linear ratings, the network is taking a night off from TGIT fun.
What will 911 return with new episodes?
There is only a short wait for new episodes of the series. The promo for 911 season 8, episode 6 told us that it would air “in two weeks.” That means we’ll get the new episode on Thursday, Nov. 7.
That’s not too long to wait. It’s clear that ABC just wanted to make sure the linear ratings weren’t affected by families trick-or-treating. After all, 118 had its annual Halloween-themed episode the previous week.
There isn’t a rerun of the series, either. ABC is opting for a rerun of Press Your Luck instead, although it’s not clear why.
What to expect in 911 season 8, episode 6
The new episode will involve a call that is similar to one in the past. A child has fallen down a pipe and gotten stuck. The last time this happened, Eddie went down and got the kid, but as Bobby says, Eddie isn’t going to fit this time.
The only way to handle it is for another child to head down the pipe. This is a dangerous situation as while the 118 will do everything they can to keep the boy safe, there is no guarantee that ropes won’t snap or the child panics as he goes down.
Meanwhile, there’s a call that takes Athena to the top of a building. It sounds like a man may not be happy about a divorce situation, and it’s going to bring up some memories for the members of the 118.
Check out the promo and synopsis for 911 season 8, episode 6 to be prepared for the show’s return:
"When a toddler falls down a pipe and becomes trapped, the 118 must rely on more than their skills to rescue him. Meanwhile, old wounds are opened when members of the 118 race to the aid of a man dealing with a divorce."
911 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC. Catch up the following day on Hulu.
