How did Buck go missing on 911?

At first, their road trip was fine, with them jamming out to some music and giving us Sam and Dean vibes from Supernatural with the karaoke to “Carry On My Wayward Son.” However, their tempers got the best of them, and when they got lost, they were both sniping at each other.

They stopped at a diner for directions and to get some food, but an argument between them got the attention of some guys who took their interaction the wrong way. Eventually, they left, but as they were driving away, a huge truck with floodlights rammed them off the road.

Eddie woke up at the hospital to find that Buck was missing. Despite the sheriff coming when he reported what happened, he wasn’t taken seriously. Other people at the diner said they had a fight and made it sound like Eddie was the aggressor.

Now Eddie was alone with no one taking Buck’s disappearance to heart. He called Chimney for help, who immediately let Athena know. Maddie was devastated to learn he was missing, and they stuck together to talk to Eddie.

Eddie wasn’t sure what to do since he was in the hospital and a sheriff’s deputy was stationed outside the door to watch him. Athena, having already been given the runaround by the sheriff, told him he had to be the one to escape through the window and find out what was happening.

He was able to get help from a guy on horseback, who took him to the diner to question one of the employees about the people there that night. He tried to ask about Earl, the cook, and Bonnie, their waitress, only to be given the runaround.

Maddie, Chimney, and Athena do their best to help from LA

Maddie looked up Bonnie’s name, but no one answered at home. Even though he had an address now, it was a 30-minute drive. Luckily he saw a car for sale, and while he likely used his phone to pay for it, it was a heck of a coincidence for someone who needed to find his friend.

Meanwhile, Buck was desperately trying to seek a way out of the house he was being held in. Bonnie the waitress, played by the amazing Melinda McGraw, had abducted him with the help of her ex-husband, Earl (Jeff Kober), although he was less into the idea than she was.

It turned out her son, Derek, had been injured and left on life support, and now she was taking young men who looked like her son and trying to bring him back to life. However, Buck refused to play the game, trying desperately to survive. However, when she attacked him, he began crying that his name was Derek to try to convince her he would stay.

When Buck was alone, he tried to find things in the room to help him escape. He even found a toy helicopter and broke it apart to try and find a sharp edge that would give him the advantage. Eventually, he did act like he was her Derek, using her moment of trying to give him soup and a sandwich to shove her away and run. Unfortunately, when he spotted Derek’s prone body in one of the bedrooms, he was taken by surprise, leaving Earl to hit him and knock him unconscious.

Buck was left tied up in their basement with Earl wanting Bonnie to finish this. She was prepared to shoot Buck and he tried to save himself one more time. He told Bonnie he knew what it was like to lose someone. He talked about losing the man who was like his father and not knowing who he was without him.

Before Bonnie could pull the trigger, they heard a car pull up and it was Eddie. He begged Bonnie not to hurt Eddie, telling her he had a son at home.

While Bonnie went to talk to Eddie, Buck talked to Earl, who still seemed reluctant about the entire ordeal. Meanwhile, Eddie was about to take Bonnie’s direction of where he could find the three men he thought took Buck until he saw the truck covered up outside.

Bonnie held a gun on him, and just as he got the upper hand, Earl came to stop him. Luckily, Buck had managed to escape and used a cattle prod to shock Earl just as the sheriff arrived. They had learned Eddie was at the diner asking about Bonnie and came to find out what was happening.

Thankfully, everything ended on a happy note, with Buck and Eddie safe, and Buck calling Maddie and Chimney, giving his grateful family the news he was okay and alive.

Of course, they soon find out that Hen’s surprise party is happening without her, as Karen surprised Hen with a birthday vacation. Even though she knew Chimney had something planned, she didn’t tell him her plans, as neither thought the other could hide it. This meant the two friends could have just stayed at the airport, but of course, in true 911 fashion, trouble will always find a way.

This was a brutal episode for Buck, but Oliver Stark really gave it all this episode. We got to see just how Buck was still affected by Bobby’s loss and how not talking to anyone in his family was actually impacting him. Buck hasn’t really shared how he felt with anyone, and we hope the next few episodes will see Buck opening up to his family.

The episode also showed just how much of a brotherly bond Buck and Eddie have. Despite the danger they were in and the fact they had argued, they worried about one another and fought to keep the other safe. We hope the next few episodes will continue to improve their friendship in the long run.

The next episode will see an emergency come to the Dispatch center, with the promo for episode 14 showing Maddie Han’s boss, Sue, having a medical issue. Hopefully she will be okay and help will come quickly!

911 airs Thursdays on ABC at 8/7c. You can find episodes streaming on Hulu.
