Abbott Elementary season 4 isn't new tonight (But there's still some good news)

Fellow Abbott fans, I know. It really is never a good time when our favorite network show skips a week. But unfortunately, that's going to be the case with the newest episode of Abbott Elementary season 4 since it's not new tonight. ABC has chosen to skip broadcasting a new episode tonight. So when will the comedy be back?

Abbott Elementary returns with a new episode on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. That's right, be sure you tune in a little earlier as the episode will be on an hour before its usual slotted time. So why is that the case? This is where the good news comes in. We do want to look on the bright side.

When the sitcom returns, the show will be airing two back to back episodes! That's why it's on a little bit earlier. And, hey. It does suck that we won't get to see Janine, Gregory, and the rest of the teachers and employees at the school for two weeks. But at least the wait will kind of be worth it. Right?

First at 8 p.m. ET comes Abbott Elementary season 4 episode 7, "Winter Show." In the first holiday-themed episode, Barbara will take charge in putting on the school's first-ever holiday show. And even though there's some setbacks, nothing will hold her back from making it a success, per the synopsis. Plus, we're going to meet Jacob's brother who "arrives for his visit earlier than planned."

Next up that night we have episode 8, "Winter Break," at 8:30 p.m. ET. In the new Abbott episode, Melissa "hosts the Schemmenti family Christmas Eve dinner and goes to great lengths to make sure everything is perfect," while Janine and Gregory get an "unexpected guest," per the synopsis. Ooh, who could it be!?

Even though we don't like it when shows go on a slight break missing a week or two, it does make sense here since these episodes are holiday themed. They at least need to air in December! Plus the reason the series is skipping this week is due to the CMA Awards, running from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET. Get ready for an even longer wait though because following these two episodes, it will be time for the winter break that broadcast network schedules go on until the midseason premieres return in January 2025.

Although, even this comes with its own set of good news. Abbott Elementary will be back in the new year on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025 with the new air time of 8:30 p.m. ET. And that episode is going to be the highly-anticipated Abbott Elementary / It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode! As a fan of both shows, I seriously cannot wait for this episode to be on my screen. It's going to be amazing!
