Ever since the seventh season of The CW's football teen drama series All American finished airing last May, fans have been waiting for word on when the final season will arrive. Well, we finally have an update about when to expect news about the season 8 premiere date. Our drought without any news has officially ended, but our wait until the series' end hasn't.

While All American season 8 had already been confirmed for a release sometime in 2026, The CW hasn't provided any additional information about when to expect the last batch of episodes to air. The first few months of the year didn't bring the season 8 premiere to our screens or even an announcement about when that would be. But we should prepare for the news soon.

All American season 8 premiere date set to announce in coming weeks

In the latest edition of Matt Webb Mitovich's Matt's Inside Line newsletter, Mitovich reveals that The CW could be sharing the premiere date sooner than we expect. As the journalist writes, "I'm hearing that fans may (finally!) get news on that front in the coming weeks."

Of course, that's not a concrete reveal about when All American season 8 will either premiere or when the premiere date will be announced, but it's the best tease fans have gotten lately. We now know that The CW could share the premiere date before the end of April 2026 or sometime in May, which would certainly fall under "the coming weeks." Seemingly, the final season will air in summer or fall.

All American season 8 began filming in August 2025, and the 13-episode season ultimately wrapped production by mid-December of the same year. While fans likely would have expected the final season to begin airing on The CW by January 2026 like season 7, or even in the spring like season 6, the new year kicked off without a specific release window for the highly anticipated season.

It's unclear what direction the network might take with the final season's rollout. Obviously, All American's sendoff is a huge deal. It's the last show remaining from The CW's previous era, so we're not only saying goodbye to a beloved show, but we're also saying our last goodbye to a version of the network that hasn't existed for years at this point.

While it would be unorthodox for The CW to give All American's final season an airing during the summer, that would definitely give the show its own moment to shine without other popular shows pulling focus on broadcast's bigger networks. But The CW could also decide to further hold the show's swan song until the fall, right in the mix of the new television season.

For the sake of the fans who have been waiting nearly one year for season 8, let's hope that the new episodes begin rolling out sometime this summer. No matter how long we wait, it will be bittersweet either way. Those waiting to watch the episodes on Netflix will have to stay patient a while longer. All American season 8 will likely debut on Netflix about one week after its series finale.

We'll share The CW's official release plans for All American when they are announced!
