There's some bad news (so far) about Boden returning in Chicago Fire season 13

It's looking less and less likely we'll see Boden in Chicago Fire season 13.

When Chicago Fire first announced Eamonn Walker was leaving the series, there was some hope we would see him again. It’s looking less and less likely it will happen this season, though.

Chief Boden left Firehouse 51 at the end of Chicago Fire season 12. To protect Firehouse 51 and the fire department as a whole, he put his hat in the fire commissioner ring and ended up with the position. As he left, the series promised that we would get to see him again.

That meant fans were excited to see him at least once in Chicago Fire season 13. Wouldn’t the three-part crossover event have been a good time to bring him in? Well, it’s looking like it won’t happen this season.

Eamonn Walker isn’t booked for anything just yet in Chicago Fire

The last we heard from TVLine, we were told that Eamonn Walker wasn’t set to return to the series just yet. This didn’t mean he never would, but that the show hadn’t organized anything yet. At least, they hadn’t told TVLine anything.

On top of that, Walker hasn’t said anything about whether he would return to the series. Usually, actors coming back to the show will give some sort of interview or will share something with fans. There are usually behind-the-scene photos on social media platforms. With nothing like this so far, it hints that TVLine is still right and that there isn’t anything to come.

Never say never, but we may need to wait until Chicago Fire season 14

There are chances that we’ll need to wait for another season. It’s possible that with the three-way crossover event, it was just a lot to get people in. If there aren’t the storylines, there won’t be a need to bring back characters.

I always say that if a character is coming back, there needs to be a genuine storyline to do it. With a character like Boden, it is usually a little easier. He is at HQ, and there are times that characters can head to HQ. However, it is still better in terms of story for a need for the character to be there.

It is bad news right now for fans of Boden, though. It will be a shame having to wait for season 14 (presuming it happens) but that will at least give us something.

Chicago Fire airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
