Baseball causes Doc, Best Medicine to get bumped from Fox’s schedule on March 17

Two of Fox's biggest shows will be off the schedule for this week, with Doc and Best Medicine sidelined for baseball coverage on March 17.

Consider this a bit of bad luck for fans of two of Fox’s biggest shows this St. Patrick’s Day.

This St. Patrick’s Day, Fox will be turning over its primetime lineup to coverage of the 2026 World Baseball Classic final, bringing viewers coverage of the championship game between the U.S. and Venezuela. With the 2026 World Baseball Classic final airing in primetime, Fox has been forced to bump both Best Medicine and Doc from the schedule.

That’s right, there will sadly be no new episodes of Best Medicine or Doc airing on March 17, with both shows taking the week off due to Fox’s baseball coverage. It’s definitely disappointing knowing there is not only no new episode but also no rerun coming tonight, but the good news is that this will not be an extended break!

While Fox has been forced to pull Best Medicine and Doc from the schedule on March 17 due to the 2026 World Baseball Classic, the two hit medical dramas will return with new episodes on March 24! And it sounds like Fox has a pair of incredible episodes lined up when the shows return from their week off the air.

In Best Medicine season 1, episode 11, “Mind Your Own Buboes,” Port Wenn will go on lockdown when a patient sparks fears of a plague outbreak. Amid the chaos, the characters will each be dealing with their own personal drama. We’ll have Martin facing town gossip, Aunt Sarah struggling with feelings of betrayal, and George and Louisa having an epiphany of some kind.

Meanwhile, in Doc season 2, episode 18, Amy and Michael’s attempt at a family road trip with Katie for her college orientation will quickly go sideways. On the way out to the orientation, the trio will decide to take a detour after passing a familiar campsite that leads the group to an injured man whose life hangs in the balance. With no cell service and no help coming, Amy, Michael, and Katie will have to work together to save the man’s life.

Of course, it’s never fun when our favorite shows go on an unexpected break, but we’ve definitely got a pair of amazing episodes coming our way on March 24, given what Fox has teased about the next Doc and Best Medicine episodes! And there are still a lot of great options for viewers looking for something new to enjoy on Tuesday night.

There is, of course, Fox’s coverage of the 2026 World Baseball Classic final at loanDepot Park in Miami. History will be made tonight as Venezuela makes its first-ever appearance in the World Baseball Classic final, hoping to also bring home their first victory in the process. To do so, they’ll have to defeat the U.S., who are back for their third straight appearance and hoping to win the tournament after their loss to Japan back in 2023.

On the scripted front, there are new episodes of NCIS, NCIS: Origins, and NCIS: Sydney airing on CBS. ABC will have new episodes of Will Trent, High Potential, and RJ Decker. While sports fans who don’t keep up with baseball can turn to NBC for NBA primetime coverage!
