We’ve had a great run of new episodes of Brilliant Minds, NBC’s newest medical drama. Well, this is where the run stops. Brilliant Minds is taking its first break.

There isn’t a new episode of the Zachary Quinto drama tonight, Monday, Nov. 4. It’s bad news for those who have enjoyed the interesting and unique medical cases.

Why isn’t Brilliant Minds on NBC tonight?

To make matters worse, there isn’t even a rerun of the drama tonight. Instead, NBC is bringing us a Saturday Night Live special. It will focus on Election Night, which is tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 5. This makes sense, and I guess we can’t complain when elections are only once every four years.

It looks like the election coverage is just one of the reasons for the break. This could also be a great excuse to get a needed break in for scheduling purposes. NBC, like other broadcast networks, has to fit in a set amount of episodes across the September-May schedule. This isn’t easy to do, and it leads to some gaps in the schedule.

When will Brilliant Minds return with new episodes?

There is some good news, though. The break isn’t that long. The promo for the next episode confirmed that the episode will air on Monday, Nov. 11.

We’ll get to see our John Doe patient get a device in his brain that will potentially help to give him his voice back. John Doe, who turns out to be called Roman, based on the promo, is suffering from Locked-In Syndrome. He’s still in there, though, and he doesn’t want to be left alone any longer. Dr. Wolf refuses to leave him, knowing what that is like if only for a short period of time.

However, Pierce has a point. Not everyone can be saved. Is Wolf going to end up losing this patient? What happens to Wolf if that happens?
