After four consecutive weeks of new episodes, CBS is pulling its entire NCIS lineup from the schedule on November 3 with no new episodes of NCIS, NCIS: New York, or NCIS: Origins coming fans’ way in the evening. What’s even more disappointing is that CBS won’t be just sending the shows into rerun mode. That’s right, not only will we not be getting new episodes of the three NCIS shows this Tuesday, but CBS is literally taking all three shows off the schedule with no reruns planned to air in place of new episodes.

So why is CBS pulling the NCIS series from its slate this Tuesday? Well, there is a very good reason, though it’s one that some fans will certainly be annoyed by.

Tuesday, November 3, is a major election day with millions heading out to vote for the midterm elections, which could have major implications as both parties battle it out in key Senate and House races. Given the high-profile nature of the election, most broadcast networks are gearing up to bring fans election night coverage, and this includes CBS. Rather than airing new or encore episodes of its three NCIS shows, CBS will be turning over its primetime block to the CBS News team for a five-hour special report that will begin at 7 p.m. ET and run up until midnight ET.

As a result, TV fans won’t have many options that evening if they’re looking to enjoy some scripted or unscripted programs, as FOX is the only network not airing a night of election coverage, with new episodes of Doc and Best Medicine currently planned. This means if you’re looking to pass the evening with a favorite series, you’re going to have to turn to streaming.

While we won’t be able to enjoy episodes of NCIS, NCIS: New York, or NCIS: Origins this week, the good news is that the shows will return on November 10, as this is simply a one-week break.

The night will begin with the OG NCIS team working a missing persons case after an eight-year-old girl is found hiding alone in her apartment with her Marine mother nowhere to be found. The case turns into a race against time with the young girl potentially holding the key to crack the case.

Next in NCIS: New York, the team will investigate the murder of a naval interrogator found dead in her home as Nick struggles with the investigation into his former NYPD partner. Finally, in NCIS: Origins, we’ll see Gibbs and Bishop teaming up for an intense interrogation, while back in the past the team will work the murder of a con woman in a case that hits close to home for Lala.

Don't miss new episodes of NCIS, NCIS: New York, and NCIS: Origins on Tuesday, November 10 on ly on CBS.
