CBS sets finale dates for NCIS, Matlock and 20 additional hit series (and some are coming up fast!)

CBS has become the first network to announce the finale dates for its hit primetime series including NCIS, Matlock, and more!

CBS was the first broadcast network to determine the fate of its programming lineup, and now it’s become the first broadcast network to unveil its complete season finale schedule!

Interestingly, CBS is going for a more traditional finale schedule this year with only one show signing off the air in April. This is a departure from the network’s approach to its finale schedule in 2025, which saw a handful of shows wrapping their runs in the final weeks of April during the 2024-25 season.

Matlock will once again be the first CBS series to sign off the air for the summer, kicking off the finale schedule for the second season in a row. Matlock will again close out its season with a special two-hour finale event, which has been scheduled to air on April 23 beginning at 9 p.m. ET. Matlock will be one of only two scripted series wrapping its season with a special two-hour finale this season, another departure for CBS, which aired three two-hour finale blocks last season as well as a handful of two-part finale events.

As was the case last year, the NCIS shows will not be wrapping up their current seasons on the same date. NCIS: Origins is slated to wrap its second season on May 5, while both NCIS and NCIS: Sydney will air their respective season finales a week later on May 12. The decision to close out NCIS: Origins season 2 a week early is due to the fact that NCIS: Sydney will be closing its second season with a two-hour finale event, the second of only two extended finale doubleheaders CBS has planned this season.

Unsurprisingly, CBS’s Friday and Sunday night dramas will be among the final shows to sign off the air for the summer this year. Sheriff Country, Fire Country, and Boston Blue will all be closing out their seasons on May 22, while Marshals and Tracker will wrap their seasons on May 24. And finally, we’ll have the season 2 finale of Hollywood Squares bringing up the rear, closing out CBS’s 2025-26 season on May 27 with the final episode of its season.
