The new Criminal Minds: Evolution trailer is out for season 4 and it features a quick appearance from rising star Connor Storrie. Find out what we can expect when the new season premieres on May 28 on Paramount+.

As a refresher, season 3 of Crimnal Minds: Evolution saw the team working with Zach Gilford's Elias Voit after someone reignited his serial killer network in an attempt to bring Voit back to the murder game, basically. However, Voit had been severely beaten at the end of the second season, so he had no memory of the harm he caused.

While the end of the season saw Voit going to a supermax prison, he will still be featured in season 4, as evidenced by the trailer. When he first appears, he is a guest on a podcast, before we see the team once again needs to speak with him about a case. Apparently, someone is copying his murders and is trying to “emulate” Elias.

Storrie appears briefly in the trailer, being questioned in an interrogation room while another clip appears to show him screaming. Whether he is a victim or an unsub is unknown, but he has captivated fans with his role on the Crave and HBO Max series Heated Rivalry so we’re excited to see what he brings to Criminal Minds: Evolution.

So while the team tackles more cases related to Elias Voit, they will also continue living their lives as we saw them last. Agent JJ Jareau (AJ Cook) became a single mother after her husband, Will, passed away, and we will likely see how she is doing as she raises her boys while also working as an agent.

Speaking with TVInsider about how grief cannot just be wrapped up all nice and neat, Cook said “This never goes away. This now has shaped her into this new single mother, and it will continue shaping her as she now learns to work through life this way.”

The first three seasons of Criminal Minds: Evolution also focused on one agent themselves beginning with Joe Mantegna’s Dave Rossi, JJ, and now season 4 may focus on Aisha Tyler’s Dr. Tara Lewis. At the end of season 3, Tara became engaged to her girlfriend, Rebecca Wilson, and we will most likely see them in the midst of wedding planning while also doing their respective jobs.

Besides Storrie, other guest stars for this season include Yvette Nicole Brown, Cress Williams, Lyndon Smith, Justin Kirk, Nicholas Gonzales, and Jeri Ryan to name a few.

The show also stars Kirsten Vangsness, Paget Brewster, Adam Rodriguez, and Ryan-James Hatanaka. So far, it appears we may not see appearances by other previous series regulars such as Matthew Gray Gubler, Daniel Henney, or Shemar Moore.

Criminal Minds: Evolution will premiere on Thursday, May 28 on Paramount+ and will air weekly through July 30, 2026.
