The procedural drama Wild Cards on the CW was green-lit for a second season in May, but like so many CW shows before, it floated in the bubble about whether the network would be canceled. For fans of this intriguing Canadian-US show, it was a relief.
Season 2 of Wild Cards is currently in production and will premiere on Thursday, Feb. 6 in the US. Not only will we have more crime-fighting stories led by Max and her partner, Ellis, who is portrayed by Vanessa Morgan of Riverdale and Giacomo Gianniotti of Reign, respectively. A handful of guest stars will also join the roster.
It's big news, considering we didn't have much coverage between the renewal and the guest star update. The CW has a history of keeping mum on show spoilers, even when updates are considered spoilers. Wild Cards has followed the same pattern, so we'll take what we can get regarding its content.
Additionally, season 2 will be comprised of 13 episodes, which overpower season 1's 10. With that aid, there will be plenty of opportunities for creation, arcs, and character dynamics to flip through.
These guest stars will be joining Wild Cards in season 2
According to Variety, who first reported the news, five guest stars will be a new addition to the drama. They'll portray a diversity of characters, ranging from criminals to moms, and law officials. With this unique blend, I bet the situations will become more intense and difficult to crack, as you won't be focusing on one criminal at a time, but many.
Let's meet the guest stars:
Marie Avgeropoulos
First up is another CW veteran, Marie Avgeropoulos. She's well-known as The 100's Octavia Blake, one of the series' most evolved characters who went from meek to saving humanity. In Wild Cards, Avgeropoulos will portray Nadia Evans, who's described as a fierce mother and race car motorist. It's unknown whether her character will be a criminal or a victim of a crime.
Martin Sheen
Sheen is a Hollywood veteran who played pivotal roles in the now-canceled The West Wing and Murphy Brown. In Wild Cards, he'll portray conman Joseph Edwards.
Ally Sheedy
Next up is Ally Sheedy. She's known for her roles in The Breakfast Club, Single Drunk Female, and Home Alone 2: Lost In New York. She will portray the ranch owner, Rose Pruett.
Katie Findlay
Findlay is known for her role as Kate on the short-lived CW Walker prequel, Walker: Independence. Returning to the channel once more, she'll portray Maddy on Wild Cards, who's Max's best friend and former partner-in-crime, per Variety's description.
Tony d'Angelo
Tony d'Angelo is a champion WWE wrestler who will be a criminal mastermind named Jaws in Wild Cards. That name alone is enough to know he won't be someone you want to mess around with. Additionally, Jaws might be a suspect in the murder case of Ellis's brother, which the plot was left dangling in the last episodes of season 1.
We can't wait to see what these new characters will offer and how Ellis will handle them after his partner dissolution with Max in the season 1 finale.
