It was finally time for the Dancing With the Stars season 33 finale and crowning a winner of the Mirrorball trophy has never been so difficult. All of the celebrities this year have been incredible and the five remaining couples all brought something unique to the dance floor. In the end, only one could win.

There were two dances performed, which included a redemption routine and then a freestyle round. In essence, the redemption dance gave the celebrities a chance to redo a challenging dance from one of the previous weeks.

The night started off with the judges recapping the best aspects of each of the celebrity finalists, including their personality, dance styles, and how they have grown as dancers. Then when the show began, the couples did a redemption dance.

What routines did the five finalists perform and how did they do?

Stephen and Rylee’s dance was the Quickstep and they were tasked with working on his musicality, since he had a tendency to move faster than the music. He did such an amazing job and impressed the judges with his timing and fluid moments on the dance floor. The score for the night was a 29/30, which was added to his score from the semi-finals, which earned him an 82.

Joey and Jenna were next, doing the Cha Cha, which was their first dance together back when the season premiered. He was so amazing in his movements and earned a perfect score, which left him with 88 points after adding the scores from the semifinals. All in all, he has been so impressive this season and showed potential to take it all home.

ALAN BERSTEN, ILONA MAHER

Danny and Witney’s redemption dance was the Tango, which was also their first dance together, so his movements didn’t have the same comfortability he has garnered in his time on the show. Their dance earned them a 27 and their total score went up to 81.

For Ilona and Alan’s redemption dance, they were given the Jive, which was one of their most difficult ones when one too many issues got the best of Ilona. However, she truly did an amazing job this time around and had a successful routine that brought them a score of 27, bringing their total up to 84.

Chandler and Brandon also had a Jive for their redemption dance. She has done an impressive job each week, improving week after week, showing just how much she deserved to be in the finals. After an incredible performance and a perfect score, their total went up to 88.

CHANDLER KINNEY, BRANDON ARMSTRONG

In between the two dances, we got to see the previous celebrity competitors return and show their stuff on the dance floor. Plus, former pro dancers Mark Ballas and Derek Hough performed an Argentine Tango after giving a history about the dance. It was such a fun routine to watch before returning to our finalists.

Stephen and Rylee’s freestyle earned them a perfect score, with them adding gymnastics to make for a fun performance for their final routine together. Then Jenna and Joey also had a similar freestyle where they played with tennis rackets throughout the dance. They did an incredible job and earned a 29 out of 30 for their score.

Next up was Danny and Witney, who did a fun freestyle to “I’m Just Ken” from the Barbie movie, earning them a 29 out of 30. Ilona and Alan’s freestyle truly encompassed the feeling of being empowered and she truly showed how far she has come from the beginning. This dance earned Ilona her first perfect score.

Finally, Chandler and Brandon celebrated their milestone of becoming the first black couple to reach the finals on DWtS and they did so by celebrating the history of black performers beginning from the iconic Nicholas brothers. Their performance was breathtakingly spectacular and earned them a perfect score.

Of course, this meant that at the end of the night, a winner had to be chosen, even though we wish they could all win! So who took home the mirror ball at the end of the night?

The final results were in and Danny was in fifth place, Stephen in fourth, Chandler in third, and this left Ilona and Joey left.

In the end, it was Joey who became the first Bachelor star to win the Mirrorball.

We are so proud of all of the celebrities who competed this year! It was such a fun season and we will miss seeing them dancing together each week!
