Dancing With the Stars had two nights of performances since the show was not on air the previous week. On Monday, Oct. 7, the contestants celebrated Soul Train Night while Tuesday was Hair Metal Night as they danced to rock anthems. Since there were two performances this week, there was a double elimination, so we sadly said goodbye to two celebrities.

All of the couples put their best feet forward and while there were some performances that didn’t go to plan, leaving Ilona Maher in tears on night two for example, it was still fun to watch, especially with guest judges Rosie Perez on night one and rocker Gene Simmons on night two.

Who went home after two nights of performances on Dancing With the Stars?

The scores for both nights were combined and their total reflected both dances, even though the elimination only took place on the second night of the competition. Many of the competitors got 9s on both nights, with Simmons holding up the paddle for a 10 for Brooks Nader, even though he had submitted his score as a 9. So even though he did hold up that paddle, his official score for her dance was a 9.

Having guest judges can always be interesting, especially for ones who are not trained in judging ballroom dances. While Simmons appeared to do a decent job judging, he also had a habit of commenting on how attractive the women were. Nevertheless, we were pumped to see how the scoring helped move the couples much closer to the finish line.

For the most part, many of the contestants have remained consistent in either remaining the same or improving each week, such as Danny Amendola, who has continued to thrive on the dance floor. As for who took the top score of the night, it was The Bachelor star Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson, whose total score was combined to 70.

Of course, we did have to say goodbye to two of the celebrities. At the end of the night 2, the final three couples were Ilona Maher and Alan Bernstein, Eric Roberts and Britt Stewart, and Reginald VelJohnson and Emma Slater. Even though the two men touched our hearts with how hard they worked despite their age and respective health issues, they both were eliminated.

We are going to miss them both, especially Reggie, who has amassed a large following on social media. He really seemed to enjoy the time he spent on the show and we’re looking forward to seeing what is next for him in the future.

Next week, the celebrities will return for Dedication Night, which will be focused on dances that they will dedicate to someone special in their life. Plus, former pro dancer Mark Ballas will be a guest judge for this week’s performances. Having been on the other side of the judge’s table, he will be sure to give some great feedback to the remaining stars.

Dancing With the Stars airs Tuesdays on ABC at 8/7c.
