It seems a familiar face will be helping Elsbeth ring in its fourth season, along with an incredible guest star who is no stranger to the world of television!
Let’s start with our returning star. After missing the show’s third season, Gloria Reuben is set to return as Claudia Payne, the wife of Captain Wagner, in the Elsbeth season 4 premiere, which will mark her first appearance on the show since April 2025. Reuben’s return was confirmed via a pair of photos from the Elsbeth season 4 premiere, which give fans their first glimpse at Claudia and Captain Wagner back together on-screen.
Reuben looks absolutely stunning in a plum dress, which complements the plum suit worn by Captain Wagner, hinting that the pair are about to head out for a charity event of some kind. That would certainly check out, given Claudia’s status as a prominent member of New York society who is known for her charitable work. Whatever the occasion, we’re just thrilled to know that Reuben will be making her way back to Elsbeth after her abrupt exit in the third season, which marked the first season without an appearance from her character.
We first met Captain Wagner’s better half in the fourth episode of the show’s first season, with Reuben originating the role. She’d then make several guest appearances across the first two seasons of the show before taking a step back from Elsbeth in season 3 after booking a series regular role of District Attorney Mae Silver in CBS’s Blue Bloods spinoff, Boston Blue. While filming on Boston Blue prevented her from making an appearance during Elsbeth season 3, it seems the stars aligned this offseason, allowing her to drop in for a guest spot in the premiere, and hopefully we’ll get to see a few additional guest appearances across the show’s fourth season.
Speaking of guest appearances, it’s also been confirmed that the Elsbeth season 4 premiere will welcome Nicole Scherzinger as our first high-profile killer of the week guest star! The Tony-winning actress will guest as renowned marriage counselor Serena Collyer, who finds herself in Elsbeth’s crosshairs during the season 4 premiere case. We’re definitely looking forward to seeing Scherzinger’s take on the character whose cool demeanor hides a murderous and messy passion!
Scherzinger will be the first of many guest stars dropping in over the course of season 4, with Nicholas Braun, OG Anunoby, and Jemima Kirke all set to appear in the first episodes of the new season—which moves to a new time this fall, airing an hour earlier at 9/8c on CBS.
