FBI season 8, episode 15 turned the focus onto Agent Eva Ramos (Juliana Aidén Martinez) after the previous episode saw Agent Maggie Bell lose her sister, Erin. With Maggie on bereavement, the team was down a member just as a major drug case swept them into action.
The episode began when a drug runner went to the location where bags of drugs had been dropped off. When she arrived, though, police were on site, as two little kids had discovered the drugs and opened them, not realizing what they were. Not only had they died due to fentanyl poisoning, but so did the aide trying to give them CPR.
With the drug runner arrested, they learned which seller she was associated with, and Isobel got him to confess who was running the operation. Hector Vega turned out to be someone from Ramos’s past as a prosecutor. She was young and cocky and thought she could get a conviction against him. However, the one witness against him was killed, and he got away.

Without telling OA or Scola, Ramos went to follow Vega, who saw her pull up. He wanted to talk with her and offered to give her a bigger fish to fry. There was a new drug runner in town who called himself Jaren Turner, and he was bringing in a synthetic opioid called nitazene, which was more potent than Vega’s product.
They made a deal with him for more information on Turner, which was difficult since they didn’t know his real name or what he looked like. The team was able to determine how he was moving the product, and they tried to rob the drivers in order to get the product.
Vega contacted Turner and offered to bring back the product in exchange for money. Working undercover with Eva, they met with Turner, who wanted to test the drug they brought to make sure it was actually legit. However, things took a turn when he brought in a witness who recognized Eva.
The team was able to stop Turner, but Vega managed to escape. This means more than likely we could see Vega again by the time the season is over, or it could spread further into next season. Eva’s decisions during the course of the case also threatened the trust between her and her partner.
She had gone rogue but brought the information to Scola, who reminded her they needed to work as a team. By the end, Scola reminded her that while she had been young and alone once when trying to prosecute Vega, he now had him on her side.
This episode allowed us to get more of Eva’s backstory and establish her partnership more with Scola. Plus, it will also allow her story to move forward as we get to know Eva more through the season.
FBI airs Mondays on CBS at 9/8c. Episodes are also available on Paramount+.
