The FBI season 8 finale brought back a former nemesis in the form of Anna Vorpe, who the team dealt with in the past and who has been known to work on the darker side of the law. Now she is at it again when a deadly pathogen is stolen from a transport vehicle.

The suspects included a former Army Ranger and a former Special Ops Marine, and Anna had built a team to work together to find the pathogen, which had gone missing. They used enhanced interrogation methods on the drivers, believing they had swapped the pathogens before removal. However, they were not involved. Anna's team had discovered the pathogen had gone missing and was looking for it, at first believing the drivers had taken it.

Anna Vorpe returns in the FBI season 8 finale

Their only suspect that could have removed the vials from the lab was Eloise Karcher, who had been corresponding with an international doctor interested in studying the pathogen that was taken, which was an RNA virus called EMA. It was not only extremely deadly but also did not have a known antidote.

However, when their team went to find Eloise at the airport, they discovered unknown men meeting with her and realized she had been catfished. When Eloise tried to run, they shot her and stole the virus and the antidote she had developed.

They were able to identify their gunmen as being part of a terrorist group known as Vyrestrat, who had committed racially motivated attacks against other minority groups in the past. While their team worked with Anna’s team to find them, things went awry quickly when one of their suspects entered an MTA bus and sprayed everyone with the deadly pathogen.

Their desire was for the government to release a man named Lorik Basha, who was not known to have been captured. However, Anna admitted they did have him, but it was off the books. All they could do now was find the antidote.

Luckily, they got the location, but when OA and Maggie got the antidote, Anna’s team turned on them. They were attacked and beaten, with OA finally handing it over. He was furious to later find out that the story was going to change and they wouldn’t know what happened to the people on the bus. They were basically left to die so Anna’s team could use the serum to create more antidotes.

OA confronted ADIC Green, telling him he was a disgrace to the bureau. This led to him being fired, leaving the rest of his team stunned and confused. After saying goodbye to them, he left and was later seen at a bar when Anna greeted him.

After giving him a sob story he didn’t believe, she offered him a job to work off the books with her team. Once she left, he made a phone call to Isobel and Maggie, telling them, “I’m in.”

This was an incredible twist that we did not see coming. There had already been tension between him and ADIC Green, so it seemed believable that something occurred to make things worse. However, this also helped to make it less obvious that OA was actually going undercover.

Season 9 is already looking exciting, especially since we will see how the team will come back together and how OA’s undercover mission will turn out.
