Fire Country could be about to lose yet another original character

As Fire Country season 4 comes to a close, one character is primed to make a life-altering decision that could change their future forever.

Could yet another cast shakeup be coming Fire Country fans’ way before the season ends? It’s certainly looking like a possibility with CBS casting doubts on the future of a key original character.

In the April 24 episode, “Not Worth the Risk,” Jake will be contemplating a life-altering decision that could change his future forever, and we have to wonder if this life-altering decision could be connected to taking a position elsewhere in the department. After all, the show has hinted at Jake considering his exit from Station 42 before.

Prior to Vince’s death, Jake revealed that he was seriously considering leaving Station 42 and Edgewater after being passed over for a promotion. He even went as far as giving Vince his two weeks' notice with all intentions of taking the job offer in Butte County before ultimately reconsidering the decision and remaining at 42.

Following Vince’s death, Jake fought hard to become the new Battalion Chief of 42 and tried to impress Battalion Chief Brett Richards. When Richards selected Manny as Station 42’s new Battalion Chief, Jake was understandably disappointed and frustrated but has seemed to since move on and put this behind him. However, we have to wonder if perhaps this life-altering decision he’ll soon have to face might be yet another job opportunity elsewhere in the county.

We know that Jake nearly left 42 after feeling undermined and restricted in his career growth. While he seems to have moved on from those resentments and feelings, we have to imagine that if an offer came up elsewhere that would allow him to advance in his career, he would seriously consider the position, and leaving 42 would certainly be a life-altering decision.

There is, however, another possible life-altering decision that Jake could be pondering which we would much prefer over the thought of him leaving 42. Could it be that Jake is considering proposing to his girlfriend, Violet? That would also be a life-altering decision and is one that would certainly change his future.

It’d be a natural progression for Jake and Violet’s relationship, and we hate even thinking about the idea of Jordan Calloway leaving the show, as Fire Country would not be the same without Jake! Jake is one of the show’s most underrated characters and is such a core part of the show, and it would be such a poor decision to write him out.

Hopefully, whatever this life-altering decision Jake is about to be faced with won’t be a storyline thread that could put his future on Fire Country in jeopardy! We’ll find out when the episode airs on April 24!
