Shawn Hatosy’s latest guest stint on HBO Max’s Emmy-winning drama The Pitt might be coming to an end, but fans won’t have to wait too long to see him back on their screens.
As The Pitt season 2, episode 9, drew to a close, we watched as Hatosy’s character, Dr. Jack Abbot, bid farewell to Robby, who is preparing to leave for his sabbatical. In the scene, Abbot finished up with a patient and wished his friend happy travels as he clocked out to get some rest before his night shift. This seems to suggest we’ve seen the last of Hatosy this season on The Pitt, but as one door closes, another one is opening!
Hot off his latest guest stint on The Pitt, Hatosy will be coming back to CBS’s hit Friday night drama, Fire Country, to reprise his role as Battalion Chief Brett Richards. Fire Country fans will get to see the return of Chief Richards in the show’s March 13 episode, and it seems his return is going to once again stir up some drama among the Station 42 team.
In the episode, titled “Life of a Firefighter,” Battalion Chief Brett Richards returns as Station 42 battles through a relentless shift. Needless to say, his return isn’t exactly met with excitement from the Station 42 team, as the official synopsis for the episode teases that his return will throw the crew off balance. His return is also going to push Manny to confront the growing self-doubt he’s been battling since taking over as Station 42 chief.
Little information is known about the circumstances that bring Chief Richards back to Station 42, but we more than welcome his return. When Chief Richards entered the picture at the beginning of season 4, he ruffled a lot of feathers as he took over as acting battalion chief following the death of Vince. While he pushed some buttons and rubbed some characters the wrong way, he was what was needed for the firehouse at the time – even if no one at Station 42 wants to admit it.
With some time away from the firehouse, it’s going to be interesting to see what he thinks of how Station 42 has changed since he left. We’re sure he’s going to have some thoughts, and we’re certainly eager to see what they might be. We’ll also have to wait to see whether this ends up being a passing-through-style one-off appearance, or if we might get more of Hatosy’s Chief Richards in the episodes to come!
Don't miss Shawn Hatosy's return to Fire County in season 4, episode 9, "Life of a Firefighter," when it airs Friday, March 13, at 9/8c on CBS.
