Crossovers have been taking over the small screen lately, as some of the biggest broadcast franchises have staged crossover events for their various fandoms. NBC's One Chicago shows returned from their winter hiatuses with an epic three-part spectacular, while ABC's 911 and 911: Nashville crossed paths for Buck and Eddie's fun adventure in Tennessee.

CBS will be getting in on the crossover excitement this spring with a first for one of its biggest franchises. Even though Fire Country and Sheriff Country have casually crossed over in the past with certain characters from each show visiting the other, we're finally getting the first formal crossover event! As exclusively revealed by TV Line, the two-hour event premieres in April.

Fire Country and Sheriff Country crossover event sets April air date

The crossover event airs on Friday, April 3, 2026 and begins with a new episode of Sheriff Country titled "The Finest" at 8/7c, followed by the second part of the crossover with Fire Country's episode titled "The Bravest" at 9/8c. Both shows are taking two-week breaks after the 12th episode of each season airs on Friday, March 13, but they will return strong in April with the must-watch two-parter.

While the episodes will give fans a better idea of how the shows intermingle for joint cases across both teams, the crossover episodes have been confirmed to feature Fire Country characters Bode (Max Thieriot), Sharon (Diane Farr), and Eve (Jules Latimer) and Sheriff Country characters Mickey (Morena Baccarin), Boone (Matt Lauria), and Wes (W. Earl Brown), though some surprises could be in store.

According to the episode synopses shared by TV Line, the crossover begins with Sheriff Country as Fox joins forces with the Cal Fire team following the explosion of a school bus that causes nine students to be unaccounted for. In order to bring closure to this case, Fox and Leone have to push through any of their lingering tensions, which will be easier said than done, of course.

The conclusion of the crossover comes in Fire Country, as Bode and Boone "risk it all" to save the lives of the students before its too late. It's no secret that each of the emergencies both teams face on a daily basis have a sense of urgency, there's a bigger air of suspense to this particular case that has the teams racing against the clock. That's what makes crossover events especially great.

If you're a fan of both shows, then you have likely been hoping for and expecting the inevitable crossover event. We can never know when franchise shows will tackle crossovers, whether it's the start of a new season, the end of a current one, or right in the middle to kick up extra excitement for the final batch of episodes. But it's the perfect time for this franchise to dip its toe into crossovers.

Thankfully, CBS has renewed Fire Country for season 5 and Sheriff Country for season 2, which means there's a safe bet we can look forward to another crossover event next season, and if the shows continue to be a hit and the network renews them for more seasons, we'll have the kind of universe One Chicago fans have been enjoying for years. It all starts on April 3!
