Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage is getting more episodes at CBS!
Good news Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage fans! We know that the Young Sheldon spin-off is good, and have. been enjoying the show even though it just started. After all, it's only the third episode airing tonight. Thankfully, CBS also sees and knows just how great the series is too.
CBS has officially given Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage a full season order. So what does this mean? Usually with broadcast television, new shows get around 10-13 episode first seasons. This is to test out the waters and see how well-received a series is going to be for the networks. However, there are times when these companies will order more episodes if the show is doing well enough.
Thankfully, the Georgie-centric comedy falls into the latter category! Initially, Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 1 was going to be 13 episodes. Though now, CBS has ordered another nine installments to give the sitcom a total of 22 episodes. Aka, what's considered to be a "full" season in the broadcast world. This is so exciting!
Honestly the series has been off to a great start, and I'm really impressed with what it's been able to achieve already. As mentioned above, this news comes even before the third episode of the show has aired. That means the network really sees something in the production and has high expectations for it. I mean, The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon held up very well. I have no doubt this one will too.
Per a press release, the Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage premiere - which aired the first two episodes of the comedy - was able to bring in a total of 10.6 million viewers within the first week of its broadcast. This applies to both those who watched on air and on streaming. That is a huge number and success, meaning the show is off to a great start. Let's hope this momentum keeps going throughout the season.
Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. You can also stream new episodes on paramount+ the next day.
