I loved Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 1, episode 12, titled "Typhoid Georgie." It had everything that makes great TV. It had emotional output, storylines, character arcs, and comedic deliverance. "Typhoid Georgie" additionally sheds more light on Mandy's attitude toward life improvement.

"Typhoid Georgie" is another episode that depicts Georgie as a well-centered family man with a fierce desire for success, even if it means working with a nasty cold that could inflict anyone who comes near him. However, the reasoning goes deeper than wanting to be a provider with money and his strong work ethic, as it was subconsciously ingrained through someone remarkably close to Georgie.

Mandy finally hit a high note in her broadcasting endeavor, but instead of having a full one-on-one conversation with Georgie about how it could impact their married life, she clearly allows her ego and self-assurance take over. There's noting wrong with having the drive, especially when you're exposed to an opportunity that could grant you a richer and better life, but you also have to think about how your loved ones feel about it, because it not only impacts you, but those close to you.

George Cooper Sr. visits Georgie in his fever dream in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 1 episode 12

I'm not crying; you're crying. The heart and highlight of "Typhoid Georgie" was the reunion of Georgie and his dad, George Sr. Sure, it was encased in Georgie's fever dream, but that doesn't make it any less meaningful or impactful. The arc between the characters paved the way for a better understanding of where Georgie gets his work ideology. It was also tear-wrenching because Georgie got the chance to hug his father when he didn't get to right before the former passed near the end of Young Sheldon season 7.

During the exchange, George somewhat belittles Georgie for taking the day off from work, as he himself didn't, even when he underwent appendix surgery and went to his coaching job that same afternoon. It wasn't his best decision, as it was endangering his health, but George's belief in nonstop work and providing for his family depleted that, and sadly, it cost him his life.

When Georgie realizes that he doesn't have to follow his dad's footsteps regarding his life, as he wants to be there for CeeCee when she gets married and has kids, George feels nothing but pride for his oldest. The response was the only thing Georgie ever wanted, as much of his parents' attention was directed to their "favorite kid," Sheldon.

Now that Georgie and Sheldon are no longer under the same roof, Georgie wants to be his own light and away from his younger brother's shadow. He has every right to desire that and more, because although he may not be scientifically intelligent, Georgie's gifted in other avenues.

And it's high time that he gets the credit he deserves.

Some last Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 1, episode 12 thoughts

"Typhoid Georgie" was one of the first season's best 18 minutes of TV. The gem is obviously Lance Barber's reprisal of the original Cooper matriarch, but other fragments made the episode amazing and fun to watch.

  • I love how Connor is getting more storylines, and his arc with Georgie in nursing him back to health is another reason why he should have the focus. He has a soft heart for his family, although they think he's "not blooming." Even if Georgie and Mandy are headed for a break-up, Connor should remain friends with his brother-in-law.
  • Mandy's inflated ego over the possibility of reenergizing her weather girl career was lukewarm. While it's great that she's finally getting the chance to make a comeback, she shouldn't have beamed about how she got the job. Additionally, Mandy was tone deaf to her co-worker, as if being a TV talent was better than being a waitress.
  • Who else misses shopping at the malls in the 1990s? There's nothing like it, and it's a shame that today's kids don't have that experience.
  • It's understandable why Georgie wants Jim to have his trust and approval, as he tried hard to gain these elements from George while he was alive. When he passed, Georgie believed he wouldn't get that chance again. The dream linked the two dads together in this respect, and Georgie got his father's approval.
