For the longest time, Thor had no idea why his shipmates left him behind. It’s time to learn why in Ghosts season 4, episode 11.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Ghosts season 4, episode 11.
Since being left behind, Thor has struggled with abandonment issues. When he found out that his son came to the land to find him, there was some sense of hope that he would get answers. That didn’t happy, though.
As Sam goes back to therapy to help Thor with his issues, the therapist comes up with a great idea. It’s time to go back to the source to find out why Thor was abandoned. Why can’t Sam head out to Norway to get answers from the ghosts of the rest of the shipmates?
Pete risks his life for Thor in Ghosts season 4, episode 11
In the end, it’s not Sam who goes. The only other person who can leave the boundary and see the ghosts is Pete. He doesn’t want to risk disappearing completely, but he decides that Thor needs him right now. So, off he goes to Norway.
The good news is that he has a detailed itinerary. This is important when they find out that the village moved. They’re able to send Pete a sign (literally) to get him to change where he is going. This is a much bigger issue, though. This village only has one ferry a day.
That day happens to be a holiday. There are no ferries coming back, and Pete is stranded as he starts to disappear. He does get some answers, though.
The Vikings didn’t intentionally leave Thor behind. There was a wrong headcount due to one shipmate having a helmet and then taking it off. It’s a pretty human reasoning. They couldn’t turn back, either, so Thor got left behind. Poor Thor!
Pete does just manage to make it back, although he has no legs and only one arm. Pete won’t be doing that again!
Thor can finally put his past behind him. I love that it was just a simple mistake by the shipmates. Of course, there was no way for Thor to find that out for the longest time, and nothing was ever said to Thor’s family because they wouldn’t have wanted to share such a mistake. Thor deserves some closure on this part of his life, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the one to be “sucked off” first out of all of the ghosts.
Bela tries to help Jay out with his restaurant in Ghosts
Meanwhile, Bela comes to visit. She’s lost her job and needs a pick-me-up. When Jay shares that he needs a manager for the restaurant, Bela volunteers herself. Jay isn’t too sure because Bela has been unreliable in the past.
Sas gets into Jay’s dreams, where they are able to have a conversation. Jay asks Sas to keep an eye on Bela for him. This is when the ghosts find out that Bela has only ordered 1lb of shrimp instead of 100lbs. Trevor decides to “help” Bela correct the mistake she didn’t realize she made by putting in the order.
When a lot of extra shrimp turns up, the ghosts had to admit to their mistake. Bela didn’t mis-order. She was trying out different shrimp sellers, but she wanted to get a smaller order of the one Jay wanted so that he didn’t complain. It was actually a good thing that she was doing.
I’m so glad that the ghosts owned up to what they did. It could have been heartbreaking for Bela to have Jay blame her when she didn’t do it. She had a good idea, and I can’t wait to see more of Bela and Jay working together.
Ghosts airs on Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on CBS.
