Ghosts season 4, episode 6 recap and review: "The Primary Source"
When Sam’s publisher calls with the need for Sam’s primary source for her book, the hunt is on. How did it all turn out in Ghosts season 4, episode 6?
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Ghosts season 4, episode 6.
If you expected Sam and Jay to run into a snag with the diary having the right information, you’d be right. However, you probably didn’t guess that the information in the diary was all about sandwiches.
It turns out that Isaac doesn’t like sandwiches. And he made sure people knew all about it in the diary. That just meant problems for Sam, because she needed to prove the primary source for this non-fiction book.
Sam and Jay figure out how to make the diary work in Ghosts season 4, episode 6
With the authenticator on the way, Sam and Jay had to get to work fast. The great thing was that there was enough space on the pages to write in the dairy. Isaac had no problem with this, pointing out that he couldn’t put anything in writing in case the British won. He didn’t want anyone to see that he was a traitor.
However, the B&B owners ran into a problem, as we all expected. This came from Sam’s inability to tell the difference between ghost and living human. To be honest, the authenticator probably should have walked into the house not in his robe! Sam openly shared everything because she didn’t realize the authenticator was around.
What did this mean for Sam? Well, she thought back to something else her publisher had said about the types of books that they would usually publish. Everyone was interested in vampire novels and beach reads. Isaac’s story could be turned into a vampire novel. It would work as historical fiction.
It’s a shame for Isaac that he won’t get his story told, but this is probably for the best. Could you imagine the attention that Sam would get with another voice from the Revolutionary War? Having fiction books that could turn into bestsellers could actually be better for her in the long run, as she’ll have more to develop over time.
Trevor opens up about his life
It’s not often that Trevor gets the chance to be vulnerable. Over the years, he’s realized that he can be himself around his fellow ghosts, but that doesn’t mean he’s all that comfortable doing that. Sometimes, it’s necessary, though.
In Ghosts season 4, episode 6, the spirits find a snail. Jay steps on it, but doesn’t kill it. This is a ghost snail, and the group decide that they will keep the snail as a pet. Trevor isn’t all that impressed with the idea, until we find out that he has taken Escar-Ghost. You see, he loves pets, and the dog that he was with in his obituary was one close to his heart.
Trevor feels bad for leaving his best friend behind. As pet owners, we expect our pets to die before us. We’re ready for that for the most part. Sure, it hurts, but we know that pets don’t have long lives. At least, not in the most cases. There are always a few animals that live longer than us. So, it’s natural for Trevor to feel bad.
There is the belief at the very end that Trevor gets the light to be “sucked off.” The light isn’t for him, though. It’s for Escar-Ghost, and yes, it’s just as slow as it would be for a snail to move. Well, at least one ghost gets to move on.
I absolutely adore the development we've had for Trevor over the last four seasons. As much as I would hate to see him go, his growth has been so tremendous that he does deserve to move on first out of the lot of them.
