It's great news for Ghosts fans: How many more seasons with the CBS comedy get?

There's plenty more of our favorite CBS comedy Ghosts heading our way.

There is some excellent news for fans of Ghosts. The series has been renewed!

CBS handed out renewals for nine of its shows. One of those renewals came with even better news than the others. Ghosts has landed a multi-season renewal.

How many seasons of Ghosts are we guaranteed?

This renewal means that we’ll get two more seasons of Ghosts. This takes us to season 6 of the series, which is set to wrap in the 2026-2027 season. It doesn’t mean that’s it forever after that; just that we’re getting the guarantee of two more seasons.

This actually takes us to the same time when FBI will be up for renewal again. That series got a three-season renewal last year, and we’re into the first of those three seasons now!

The Ghosts renewal is great for filming

This renewal is great news for more than just the fans. It’s also great news for more than just keeping the cast and crew in work for longer. There’s great news for filming.

This is a series that needs to film strategically. Filming happens in Quebec, which is known for some freezing cold winter months. Fortunately for most of the actors, filming is done on the sound stage, but there are times when filming is needed outside. This becomes a problem as the ghost characters can’t put on layers for the weather, and they’re not allowed to show signs of succumbing to the elements.

Filming in the warmer months is much better. With the two-season renewal, it means that filming can be planned out well for the weather and the predicted temperature fluctuations.

Two-season storyline development for Ghosts

This renewal is also great for the storytelling. It means that a storyline can be spread out across two seasons. This isn’t as big for comedy as it is for drama, but it’s still worth having that two-season renewal to plan things.

Ghosts arguably took some risks in the past with cliffhanger endings, such as when one of the ghosts was “sucked off.” By having a multi-season renewal now, we can have more cliffhanger endings but be safe in the knowledge that we’ll get a resolution the next season.

Ghosts airs on Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
