Don’t stop believin’ because Glee might be staging an unexpected comeback with some help from one of the biggest names on Broadway.

According to Broadway Insider the Sweaty Oracle, Disney+ has officially ordered a reboot of Ryan Murphy’s Emmy-winning musical comedy Glee, and they’ve tapped a member of the original Hamilton cast to lead the series with Anthony Ramos set to star.

“I hate to spoil the fun, but a reboot of the television series Glee has been ordered for Disney+ starring one of the original Broadway cast members of Hamilton. It’s Anthony Ramos,” the Sweaty Oracle revealed in an exclusive report. “I hope you’re excited to hear Benson Boone sung as a duet. Glee-boot is real. I’m sad to bring you this exclusive tea.”

Additional information on the reported Glee reboot has not been released, and Disney has yet to comment on the reports, but it would not at all be surprising for Disney+ to be used as a launching pad for a Glee reboot.

Glee first debuted on Fox back in 2009 and immediately became a global hit for the network, with fans worldwide falling in love with the ambitious misfits brought together through the glee club. The series ran for six seasons and launched the careers of several stars, while also bringing in several A-List guest stars through its run.

For years there have been whispers of a Glee reboot, and creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan have never strayed away from the possibility of the show returning. Momentum on a reboot began gaining traction in 2025 when original star Chris Colfer confirmed to The Mirror that a reboot was in active development.

While the creative team behind the show has been open to rebooting the show, it’s unlikely we’ll see many former Glee alums returning for the project. Colfer confirmed he would probably not return for a reboot and it’s a sentiment many of his former co-stars agree with, including Amber Riley, who would much rather see the baton passed on to a new generation.

“I just feel like what we did was so phenomenal, I don’t want to risk trying to reinvent the wheel. Now if they redo it, I think that's amazing, because there are so many kids now that are just now discovering Glee, and so I think that that'd be really dope. But, you know, we lost cast members. I just feel like the chemistry, that formula, was so specific, and it's changed now, so I don't know if it would be as effective,” Riley told Monét X Change on the Monét Talks podcast last spring

Disney+ has found success in rebooting iconic franchises, including with the musical comedy High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, which put a fun spin on the franchise. So it’s of little surprise that Disney would be looking to bring Glee back as a Disney+ original series, and Anthony Ramos would be the perfect man to lead the show.

It seems likely Ramos will play the teacher in charge of the glee club, which would give the show a notable star to lead the cast and allow the show to bring in fresh talent to play the new era of students that will make up the glee club ensemble. Who knows, perhaps Disney will lure in some additional Broadway talent to star in the series as well. (Someone get Megan Hilty’s agent on the phone asap, please!)

With insiders now reporting the show as being ordered, we’ll have to wait to see if Disney makes an official announcement in the weeks ahead, but this news is coming from a trusted source hinting that the curtain may soon be rising again on Glee!
