What happens when you make unfiltered negative remarks about a boss? Denis Leary’s Colonel finds out in Going Dutch.
The series premiere airs tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 2. This series premiere is a chance to get a feel for the new series while meeting the main characters. Of course, you still want to know what to expect in the episode itself, and not just about the series as a whole.
Meet The Colonel in Going Dutch series premiere
The first episode is the introduction to the characters. The trailer gives us an idea of the type of comedy that we can expect. This is somewhat simplistic comedy, which is sometimes just what we need after a long week at work.
Denis Leary plays The Colonel, who is stationed at USAG Stroopsdorf in the Netherlands. Yes, this is a punishment position for him. He was caught in an unfiltered rant about General Davidson, and now he needs to live out his punishment. The Netherlands base is the smallest U.S. base in the world, and it has very different soldiers to the ones The Colonel is used to.
The Colonel meets Major Shah and Sergeant Conway as he gets a tour around the base. It turns out that his estranged daughter is the captain there, and she has a different type of leadership style compared to her father. This isn’t just a series that’s focused on a man who is figuring out a new country and how to get into the good graces of those above him in rank again, but he also gets a chance to be a father figure to his daughter again.
There is a crucial mission in the episode. The soldiers are marching in the town’s Tulip Festival. The question I have is whether they can actually march. The trailer shows us everything that they can’t do, including running through tires and even figuring out how doors work!
