Grey’s Anatomy season 22 is quickly racing towards its finish line with just two episodes left following episode 16, “Feel It Still.” This also means that two doctors’ time at Grey Sloan is nearly finished, and it seems the writers are at least making the most of Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver’s final episodes.
When we first see the pair, Owen is preparing to head out after leaving the kids with Teddy, and it feels as though Teddy is about to ask him to stay before she pulls back. We have to table that moment when Owen’s mom Evelyn is brought into the hospital with symptoms that suggest she’s had a stroke.
Amelia and Teddy page Owen, who arrives quickly and begins immediately going into authority mode, questioning the status of her tests and getting her into a room. Amelia and Teddy assure him it seems to be a TIA and she’s doing fine, but they’ve ordered a CT to check things.
After giving Megan an update, Owen learns from Amelia and Teddy that the imaging was negative and they’re going to start her on some medications to reduce her risk of future TIAs. They’re going to get her admitted and monitor things from here, assuring him they’ve got this. As Amelia leaves, Teddy offers to clear her day to help Owen with anything he needs, but he makes it clear he’s got things under control and rejects the help.
Evelyn gets settled into her room, and she asks Owen if everything is okay as he seems to be on edge, snipping at her about flirting with the interns. He assures her he’s fine, and she mentions how he reminds her so much of his father, always keeping things to himself. She recalls a time when his father seemed down and she’d come to learn a man had collapsed at his office and he spent 20 minutes performing CPR trying to save him, but he never once mentioned the man’s death to her. She ponders how his dad would have felt better if he let it out and she begins to slur her words as Owen calls a code stroke.
A scan shows she threw a clot to her brain; they’re lucky Owen was there and caught it, as this type of clot can be fatal if not caught right away. As Simone takes Evelyn away to prep her for surgery, Amelia asks him if he knows what her wishes are, as his mom hasn’t updated her advance directive in quite some time. Owen replies that he trusts Amelia, but she presses him for an answer and tries to explain the risks of the surgery, but he shuts the conversation down and shouts about her wasting precious time.
As Amelia prepares for the surgery, Teddy comes to see her, and Amelia is understandably spiraling with a fear of something going wrong and her being to blame for Evelyn’s death. At the same time, she knows she could never hand the case off to someone else. Teddy reminds her that she can do this and asks to accompany her in the OR.
Once in the OR, Amelia calls Owen to explain that things are worse than the scans suggested, and she proposes a temporary solution. Owen pushes hard for her to proceed with placing the stent, knowing that his mom would rather die on the table than live with the daily fear of having a massive stroke. He assures Amelia that should anything happen, it’ll be on him and not her, and she proceeds with the original plan. Thankfully, it seems things go well as Amelia comes to see Owen and informs him his mom is being moved to recovery.
Amelia comes to check on her, and everything seems to be moving in the right direction, with the stent seeming to have worked. As the episode closes, Teddy comes to check on Owen, and instead of turning her away again, he asks if she’d like to sit with them for a while.

Blue’s actions begin to blow back on Bailey
As the episode opens, Blue comes to check on Quinn, and Bailey makes it clear to him that he’s not to go anywhere near him. He asks what he can do to make things better as she hands off discharge summaries and sticks him with grunt work following his decision to use the experimental drug despite the FDA not approving the procedure.
Blue ultimately disobeys Bailey’s orders and heads in to see Quinn, who is about to get discharged and is going to begin his national park trip with his son. Dani and Ben come in to start the discharge but find his heart rate is elevated and order some tests, and Blue accompanies them.
Bailey intercepts Quinn on the way and takes him to CT, which raises suspicions for Ben. Ben goes to see Bailey and asks about the bag containing the experimental treatment, as the FDA wants it back. She brushes it off and sends him away to work on something else before he pushes further.
The CT scan shows a pulmonary embolism, and as Ben goes to give Quinn’s son an update he asks Ben when the experimental drug will begin working, revealing that Bailey had told him the FDA had approved it. Blue tells him to talk to Bailey as he tells him to stay out of the case.
Ben goes to see Bailey and confronts her about giving Quinn the experimental treatment. She makes it clear she’s trying to keep him out of things as he points out how they need to report this. Ben suggests she turns Blue in, but Bailey doesn’t want to throw him under the bus and end his career.
Blue comes to see Bailey and warns her that Ben knows. He asks if Bailey is going to turn him in, and she notes that she is not. He thanks her as she points out that it will take a lot more than a thank you to make up for what he did. She heads off to meet with Richard, who informs her that Dani came to see him about Quinn's condition; she was following protocol so he could report the complications to the FDA. He informs Bailey they're launching an official investigation and she'll have to answer for her actions.
