Don't expect a new episode of Grey's Anatomy tonight (and there's more bad news)

The doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial will not be around to treat new patients tonight, Thursday, Nov. 28. Grey's Anatomy is taking more than one night off, though.

We are more than ready to see what’s next for the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial. Grey’s Anatomy is not ready to show us, though. There isn’t a new episode on tonight, Thursday, Nov. 28.

The lack of new episode tonight isn’t all that surprising. It’s Thanksgiving, and that’s a night the broadcast networks take a night off from new episodes of scripted drama. People are busy with family and friends, watching the football, or just out of the house. They’re not sitting around the TV to watch their normal lineup.

However, there is some bad news when it comes to this break. We have seen ABC return with new episodes of the TGIT lineup after Thanksgiving. That is not happening in 2024. The Nov. 21 episode of Grey’s Anatomy was the last of 2024.

Grey’s Anatomy is taking a lengthy break

The previous episode was the fall finale. This is why it left us with a couple of cliffhangers. We watched as Owen immediately got the wrong idea of Cass and Teddy in the elevator, and we were left wondering who was shot in the grocery store. Was it Lucas or the shooter? And what about Jo, who mentioned that she was bleeding?

We won’t get answers to all our burning questions for some time. You see, this break is much longer than we would initially prefer. Grey’s Anatomy will return on Thursday, March 6.

I know a lot of people will initially moan, but I do want to point out the good thing about the break being so long. I actually wish more networks would do this. The lengthy break means that there are enough episodes to run from March to May without breaks in the schedule. There may be one around Easter weekend, but other than that, there’s no need for a break. The consistent schedule is better for the show.

Just look at how annoying it gets with other networks when they have two weeks of new episodes and then two weeks off. It’s hard to tell when our favorite shows will be back. At least with this longer wait now we have no wait later in the season.

Grey’s Anatomy will return on Thursday, March 6 at 10/9c on ABC. Catch up on the series on Hulu.
