Although 911: Nashville bares some striking similarities to its predecessors, it's proving that the characters and storylines can stand on their own. From family turmoil to fighting for your job, this first responder show has it all with a southern twist. So far, I've loved learning about all the characters and watching them grow over the course of their debut season.
The second half of season 1 had fans worried we wouldn't see Taylor's (Haliey Kilgore) character much longer. Although we're happy for her music career offers, we'd be sad to see her leave the firehouse and the show. Hopefully, I can give fans some good news on her future in the show and updates on other characters.

Taylor's music and relationship with Blue
As Taylor's music career gained more focus on the show, we wondered if we'd been losing her from 911:Nashville. Thankfully, after the latest episode, we won't be losing Taylor or her budding relationship with Blue (Hunter McVey). Although she took her shot with a Nashville idol, after much thought, she turned the gig down. The Nashville Idol almost stomped on her dreams, but Cami saved the day. Taylor played her guitar for patients in the hospital as onlookers watched her sparkle come back.
Blue and Taylor are HR official and looking so cute together. Although their coworkers may have to come around to the idea of them being a couple. Honestly, it was the funniest part of the show, bringing them together. I definitely see more Taylor and Blue in our 911: Nashville future.

Dixie and Don's past comes back to bite them
The lateral half of 911: Nashville season 1 has given more depth to how Dixie (LeAnn Rimes), Don (Chris O'Donnell), and Blythe’s (Jessica Capshaw) pasts tangle. Don meets Dixie after his family passes in a house fire and then again when they end up inside-by-side holding cells. They hit it off, fall in love, and move into a rundown apartment. Everything is going great until their careers are excelling while their relationship slowly runs its course. Dixie's leaving for her tour ends their relationship, and Don meets Blythe on one of his calls. They easily fall in love. A while later, their marriage is in trouble, and Don runs into Dixie at a bar.
After all of this, Bythe ends up giving Dixie a chance when Dixie fills in for the music performance at the gala. Everything is okay until Dixie gets plastered. Don and Bythe take a drunk Dixie to their house, and she spills her woes to Blythe. She tells Don. The next morning, Don confronts Dixie about her confession of forcing Don to have a baby with her. Maybe then he would stay, but she knew he would always pick Blythe. They exchange words, and Dixie throws her coffee cup on the way out. Although Don never wants to see or talk to her again, they still share a son.

Ryan and Sam struggle to connect
Ryan (Michael Provost) and Sam’s (MacKenzie Porter) marriage has been struggling since episode one, but it seems to be on the upswing. We learn that they’ve been going to couples therapy and learning to be more present in their marriage and more intentional about connecting. At first, they epically fail to connect while on vacation as work calls keep them from spending time together. They meet this perfect couple and gather tips about connecting without their phones and work calls. Ironically, they later find out that the perfect couple isn’t one after all when they respond to their emergency. Ryan quickly uncovers that the husband intentionally didn’t try to save his wife.
They return to their therapist with great intimacy news but a weird way of getting there. Their shared interest in helping people led them to download the emergency app that saved the wife’s life. In turn, saving lives off the clock together helped them become more intimate in their personal time. The therapist ended up agreeing on their healing path even though it was a bit crazy.

911 crossover ended badly for Buck and Eddie
Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) headed to the music city to join first responders from around the globe for the firefighter games. Although the games were interesting and they saved two lives while in Nashville, their drive home wasn’t great. After tying with Nashville in the games, Buck and Eddie were run off the road by a truck. Only Eddie was found in the car, so the doctors and police thought he was either crazy or had murdered Buck. We later found out that Buck was kidnapped somewhere near where they were run off the road. Thanks to the help of their LA friends and Eddy’s quick thinking, they saved Buck from a crazy couple who just wanted their son back.
For their first crossover event, it wasn’t a bad way to see our favorites on screen together. I definitely wish it could have been a little longer. Even so, they fit so many things into those two episodes, which was impressive.
911: Nashville airs Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC with episodes available for streaming on Disney+ and Hulu the next day.
