NBC's Friday night comedy line-up this fall includes two half-hour sitcoms: the new series Happy's Place, and the third season of Lopez vs Lopez. Both shows focus on humor that comes from conflict (and lots of love) in family dynamics, and it makes sense they are now airing back-to-back on Friday nights. But will the series both be on all year? Here's what we know about how many episodes they'll both have.
Back for its third season, Lopez vs Lopez stars real-life father-daughter duo George and Mayan Lopez, who play a version of themselves on the series as they reconnect and learn to live together after being estranged for a number of years. The series also stars Selinis Leyva, Matt Shively, and Brice Gonzalez as welcomed additions to the Lopez clan.
Episode counts for Lopez vs. Lopez and Happy's Place
Season 1 of Lopez vs Lopez had a full-year season with 22 half-hour episodes, but largely because of the industry strikes in 2023, the second season only had 10 episodes. When the comedy series was renewed for a third season, it was unclear how many episodes the show would have. But it's now been confirmed by TVLine that the sitcom will have 13 episodes this year, with a different show replacing the timeslot in the spring.
In the same report, TVLine also confirmed that the first season of Happy's Place would also have a total of 13 half-hour episodes. It's not clear why this show order was decided, but it's possibly because NBC wanted to green-light and air other shows for these same timeslots in the spring of 2025.
What is the new Reba comedy show Happy's Place about?
The new series Happy's Place stars Reba McEntire as Bobbe, who inherits her late father's tavern called "Happy's Place". In the first episode, Bobbie is surprised to learn that she has a half-sister named Isabella, and according to their father's will, they're now co-owners of the bar. Now as new sisters and tavern managers, they have to learn to work together to keep things running smoothly, while trying to connect and grieve in the process.
Along with McEntire, you'll also see Melissa Peterman as Gabby, Belissa Escobedo as Isabella, and Rex Linn as Emmett. And we expect to see more guest stars who've appeared on other Reba-led comedies too. Watch the trailer below to get a look at the new sitcom:
Happy's Place and Lopez vs Lopez air back-to-back Fridays on NBC beginning at 8/7c. Both sitcoms are also available to stream the following day on Peacock.
