Fox’s biggest scripted series is about to welcome an actor from one of the biggest new shows from the last year!
As first reported by Deadline, Heated Rivalry star Kolton Stewart is among four new additions to the cast of Doc season 3. Stewart will be trading in his skates for a doctor’s coat to play Kyle Ferguson, a brilliant and humble young intern—the youngest of the new intern class, actually. Kyle is described as a sincere and direct fish-out-of-water type, trying to find his place at the hospital.
Kyle definitely sounds like a character who is right up Stewart’s alley, and we’re sure we’ll see some shades of his Heated Rivalry character, Carter Vaughn. What we do know is that unlike in Heated Rivalry, fans should get to see Stewart featured more prominently, which is really exciting! Of course, he won’t be the only new character vying for screentime in the upcoming third season of Doc.
In addition to Stewart, Doc season 3 will also welcome Barrett Carnahan, Raffa Virago, and Cecilia Lee to round out the new intern class.
Carnahan will be playing Graham Barker, who appears to be the polar opposite of Stewart’s character, Kyle. Graham is described as being an entitled nepo baby who is hoping to prove to his new colleagues that he is more than meets the eye. While Kyle comes from humble beginnings and was homeschooled before medical school, Graham hails from one of the hospital’s wealthy donor families.
Then there is Ruth Chen, who will be played by Lee. We have a feeling that Ruth and Kyle will get along nicely,. Ruth is described as empathetic and kind, as well as a cheerleader for her fellow interns. Lee is incredibly skilled, but she’s not exactly cool under pressure, and that can lead her to become frazzled when she becomes overwhelmed. We certainly can see Kyle and Ruth becoming close and are already manifesting a friendship between the pair.
Last but certainly not least, we have Virago’s character, Nikki De Dilva, who is simply described as being a tightly wound overachiever. We can certainly see Nikki butting heads with her fellow interns and going around them in hopes of impressing the likes of Amy, Jake, and the hospital’s new cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Ben Grant, played by Blair Underwood.
These four new interns are certainly going to shake things up when Doc returns for its third season, and Fox has certainly given Heated Rivalry fans a reason to tune in this fall!
Doc season 3 premieres Tuesday, September 22 at 9/8c on Fox.
