After an incredible follow-up season full of twists, answers, and new questions, we're rapidly approaching the High Potential season 2 finale. ABC gave the breakout smash series a longer episode count, but even with an 18-episode season, time flies when you're closing cases with Morgan and Karadec. And we already know what their last one of season 2 will entail.
Leading up to the season 2 finale, High Potential has been heating up the intrigue in the Roman mystery with the addition of Jennifer Jason Leigh's character Willa Quinn. Wagner's overbearing father Wagner Sr. also got into the mix by offering Morgan a new position, but it was also revealed he's connected to Willa Quinn. Right now, we have more questions than answers.
However, ABC has revealed the official synopsis for the High Potential season 2 finale, which is titled "Family Tree" and airs on Tuesday, April 7. The telling episode title seems to suggest that some family-oriented answers will be provided in the season ender, but Morgan and Karadec's final case of the second season also teases some potential complications arising with Lucia.

Here's the full season 2 episode 17 synopsis via ABC: "A woman is found dead at the luxury hotel where Lucia works, posing a potential complication for Karadec and Morgan’s investigation. Elsewhere, Ava races to come up with the perfect idea for her art show."
Already dealing with the sensitive matters of investigating a murder, Morgan and Karadec will also have to navigate the reality that the body was discovered in Lucia's luxury hotel workplace. There a number of complex hurtles this could provide for the team's investigation. Could there be a conflict of interest considering Karadec and Lucia are in a relationship? Maybe so.
Lucia could also be put in a tricky position in the middle where she wants to help Karadec with the investigation, but there might be privileged information that she can't provide. Obviously, those are just two of the ways this case could be complicated, but there's surely another way some fans are hoping it will be complicated: A newfound open jealousy among the budding love triangle.
High Potential fans have been shipping Morgan and Karadec since we basically met them in the pilot episode, and while the show has mostly maintained a platonic working relationship between the two, there have surely been moments where the lines have blurred and it's obvious they feel something a bit more for each other. Could this case be the moment that tips the scales?
We'll have to wait and see what's in store for the case, just like we have to wait and see why the episode has the title "Family Tree" and what new revelations could arrive when it comes to Roman. Ava's art show project could coincide with a new bombshell dropping about her father, and that's exactly what we hope happens. High Potential needs to give us all the details before season 2 ends.
The High Potential season 2 finale airs on Tuesday, April 7 at 9/8c on ABC.
