The penultimate episode of High Potential season 2 ended with an unexpectedly somber note with the episode closing with a moment of tribute to a late member of the High Potential family.
After the credits rolled on season 2, episode 17, “Second Sunday,” ABC’s hit drama dedicated the episode to the memory of Matthew Gonzalez via a simple, yet sweet, dedication card. “In loving memory of Anthony Gonzalez,” read the tribute card, which closed out the episode.
The dedication card immediately led to a spike in searches as fans were eager to learn more about the late member of the High Potential community. Sadly, though, Gonzalez’s exact connection and role on the show are unclear, and the rise in search interest following the episode’s broadcast has resulted in a wave of AI obituaries that have made it even more difficult for fans to find answers.
While ABC did not reveal Gonzalez’s exact connection to the series via the dedication card, it seems likely that he was one of the countless hardworking individuals who work behind the scenes to help bring the series to life. What many fans often forget is that there are hundreds of individuals who play a role in creating shows such as High Potential, and these unsung heroes make the shows we love possible.
That includes everyone from set designers and costumers to the legal and finance teams who help keep productions moving forward. There are also casting directors, location scouts, transportation crews, post-production teams, and craft services; the list truly goes on and on, as there are so many talented individuals who put their unique skills to work to make a show such as High Potential.
Dedication cards such as the one that aired at the end of High Potential season 2, episode 17, are an opportunity for the show to honor late members of the team who have sadly passed away and to recognize their impact on the show. Due to their nature, they don't always provide fans with answers as to the individual's exact role on the series, which is the case with Gonzalez.
It's always nice when fans are able to better understand the exact impact a talented individual such as Gonzalez had in making the show they love and enjoy watching. Hopefully, in the wake of ABC's dedication, new information will come to light that helps to shine a light on the exact role that Gonzalez played in making the show.
Our thoughts are with Gonzalez's loved ones and the entire High Potential team.
