High Potential season 3 may be far off but Kaitlin Olson’s return to TV is right around the corner

Following the conclusion of High Potential season 2 in April 2026, we didn't realize that we would be waiting longer than ever for the hit ABC procedural drama to return. The popular series has enjoyed a place on the network's fall schedule for both of its seasons, but things are changing for the upcoming third season. Luckily, Kaitlin Olson will be back on our screens much sooner.

Before High Potential season 3 premieres sometime in early 2027, Olson returns to her old stomping grounds at Paddy's Irish Pub later this summer. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 18 premieres on Monday, Aug. 17 at 9/8c on FXX and Hulu. New episodes of the upcoming season will also be available to stream on Hulu at the same time the episodes air on cable.

Thankfully, Olson will remain on our screens through the fall even without High Potential season 3 premiering in September. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 18 has a bigger episode count than the latest seasons of the longest-running live-action comedy series in television history. Keeping in line with the show's themes, the gang has already courted some controversy.

Kaitlin Olson returns for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 18

Along with the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 18 premiere date announcement, FXX also shared the official key art poster with fans. The poster shows the five main characters' faces as pulls on a beer tap at Paddy's. Unfortunately, as the comments on every social media post containing the key art, fans have been quick to express their disappointment over the possible use of AI.

The show's cast and crew haven't yet confirmed how the poster was created, and while some are let down if the art was made without a real artist, others have been hypothesizing whether the poster could have been intentionally crafted by an artist to look like AI. There's a possibility that an episode this season could have something to add to the conversation surrounding artificial intelligence.

If there's anyone who could crack this case with ease, it's Morgan Gillory. But our wait for Olson to be back on our screens as her colorful, wise-cracking amateur detective will last much longer. The actress, who just landed another Emmy Award nomination for her guest role in Hacks season 3, will surely get back on set for High Potential season 3 soon, even if new episodes don't arrive until 2027.

While the fanbases for High Potential and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia might not have much overlap, unless the center of the Venn diagram is your fandom for Olson, it's a great opportunity to see the actress back in her star-making role as Sweet Dee alongside Glenn Howerton, Charlie Day, Danny Devito, and real-life husband Rob Mac. The gang's all here once again!

Watch High Potential on Hulu, and stay tuned for more news and updates on season 3!
