There's some unfortunate news to share with fans of a beloved show from The CW, as official word has arrived that another season isn't on the menu. The show in question has been canceled after four seasons, but if you're concerned that it's either of the network's fan-favorite drama series Sullivan's Crossing or Wild Cards, don't worry. Neither of those shows has been axed.
So, which The CW show didn't survive the chopping block this time around? Well, that would be the reality food competition series Great Chocolate Showdown. If you have been waiting patiently for another season to arrive since season 4 finished airing back in October 2023, it's time hang up those hopes. It's been officially confirmed that the series has been canceled.
Great Chocolate Showdown not returning on The CW
In the latest edition of Matt Webb Mitovich's Matt's Inside Line, the journalist responded to a fan's question regarding the fate of the series. After reaching out to the series' producer Nikki Ray Media, Mitovich learned that there are no future seasons planned after season 4, as a rep told him, "Unfortunately there are currently no plans to produce another season of Great Chocolate Showdown. We produced four seasons in total, from 2019 through 2022."

Great Chocolate Showdown originally aired on the Flavour Network in Canada and was acquired to air in the United States by The CW. The American network wasn't on board as a producer for the food competition series, having only acquired the series to fill a timeslot in its new era. The CW aired all four seasons that were ultimately produced and there are no further seasons in the works.
In the Great Chocolate Showdown, each season found 10 home bakers battling it out in various competitions revolving around skill sets involving chocolate. A contestant was sent home after a tense competition in every episode, leading to the season's ultimate winner taking home the $50,000 grand prize. The series featured Steven Hodge, Anna Olson, and Cynthia Stroud as judges.
All told, the series produced four seasons and 29 total episodes, which is honestly longer than most shows last on The CW these days. As previously stated, both Sullivan's Crossing and Wild Cards have been renewed for fourth seasons that will air on The CW. Sullivan's Crossing season 4 premieres on April 20, and Wild Cards season 4 will likely arrive next year as season 3 wraps airing this month.
Unfortunately, there's even more bad news for Great Chocolate Showdown fans. The series no longer has a page or presence on The CW's website, meaning the series isn't available to stream on the network's site or app. In addition to a fifth season not happening, you can't even go back in time a relive your favorite seasons and episodes. Let's hope The CW lands a new food series soon.
