Hope gave Liam the answer we pretty much expected on Bold and the Beautiful (Oct. 10, 2024)
By Sabrina Reed
Is another ride on the merry-go-round in the cards for Hope Logan and Liam Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful? Well, the soap sure did flirt with the idea as Liam used the time alone he had with his ex-wife to nervously test the waters.
The moment happened on Thursday, Oct. 10's episode as he talked his way through their history following the birth of their daughter, Beth. Considering they thought she was dead and then found out that she'd been adopted by Liam's ex-wife Steffy Forrester, he couldn't wrap his mind around how they hadn't held onto the memory of that horrible period in their lives to remind them that they can get through anything.
Liam was speaking like Hope was the one who left him instead of the other way around. Perhaps time apart and the absence of Thomas Forrester has the Spencer thinking about his relationship with Hope in a different light. He'd ended things after catching her kissing Thomas while in Rome. After years of warning Hope about Thomas, and not being able to fathom why she insisted on keeping the man who played a part in the Beth debacle around, it was a heartbreaking shock to see her lock lips with his rival.
In the months since the inciting incindent that saw Liam walking out the door and making an ill-fated attempt at rekindling a romance with the very married Steffy, Hope pursued a relationship with Thomas. However, for as much love was between to the two, her inability to say whether she thought they had a future together where they'd be married resulted in him leaving her as well and taking their son Douglas with him to boot.
Thomas is now engaged to Paris Buckingham and living in the city that's his fiancée's name sake. Hope's been spiraling without him, so much so she kissed Steffy's husband Dr. John Finnegan in the hopes that he might reciprocate her misplaced feelings. He did not, of course, but unexpectedly Hope found a spark with someone else--Carter Walton.
It's because of this new connection that Hope, as expected, wasn't receptive to Liam's tentative advance. He wanted to see if they could try again, focusing on their friendship and family to see if it might grow into a romance. But she is of the belief that they've moved on. Her specifically since her mind is on the possibility of Carter though she didn't share that part of her rejection with Liam.
She and Carter are going to have to have a talk though because he walked in on Lope's tearful hug and has been feeling a way since he caught the two in a family moment with Beth. It hasn't helped that he also walked in on Brooke and Steffy discussing the possibility of a Lope reunion. The odds aren't stacked against him and Hope but the writing around them does seem to suggest that they'll need to sort through Hope's past as they try to move forward together. His, too, if Katie has something to say about her niece dating her ex.
