As we wait for the next season of High Potential, star Kaitlin Olson is sharing two major things she wants to see in season 3.

Since its 2025 debut, High Potential has become a hit for ABC. This remake of a French series stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Gillory, a woman with a genius IQ of 160, which packs her mind with information, but struggles to navigate a personal life. Circumstances led her to become an official LAPD consultant, using her genius to solve crimes.

Season 2 wrapped in April, and season 3 is expected to come in January of 2027, giving the writers plenty of time to craft plotlines and ideas. Speaking to Good Morning America’s Will Ganss at the Disney upfronts in May, Olson discussed a couple of things she wants to see in season 3. The first is to show that her character isn’t so perfect.

“I always love seeing Morgan get things wrong,” Olson began. “ I think that’s interesting.”

Usually, Morgan is always a step ahead of the cops and criminals alike, with her eye for detail and quirky mind allowing her to unravel the truth from minor clues. However, Morgan does get things wrong now and then. Sometimes it’ll be lacking a detail or context, so she won’t be able to draw the correct conclusion. Other times, Morgan will be so focused on those smaller details that she’ll miss the broader picture.

Also, Morgan’s stubbornness can lead her to sometimes refuse to admit being wrong to slow her down. The fact that she has a hard time relating to people can also cause misjudgments. While Morgan ultimately solves the case, Olson has a good approach in showing that Morgan's not being infallible will help endear her to viewers.

Olson wants the supporting cast to get the spotlight

Olson’s other wish is that the show moves the spotlight from just her and Daniel Sunjata as Morgan’s partner, Adam Karadec, to the rest of the characters. “I want to dig deeper into our, the rest of our cast, and see who they are and, you know, where they come from.”

This is a great point, as the only other member of the squad to get more of a spotlight so far is Selena Soto (Judy Reyes), the head of the Major Crimes Division. We barely know anything about fellow cops Daphne Forrester (Javicia Leslie) and Lev "Oz" Özdil (Deniz Akdeniz) whose backstories surely would add more drama. Learning how they became cops, what drives them, and perhaps some of their family or friends getting involved in a case could spark things up.

It's nice of Olson to share how she doesn’t want the show to be just her own star vehicle and let the rest of the ensemble share the spotlight.

We have a long wait for season 3, so hopefully the writers are listening to Olson on how High Potential can get better!

High Potential is now streaming on Hulu.
