Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has been on air since the late 1990s. It is the longest-running primetime live-action series in the United States. With that length, it has had numerous guest stars and actors who have appeared in multiple franchises. This includes many actors from the Star Wars franchise who have guest starred on SVU over the years, many who appeared on the show before the debuted in a galaxy far, far away.
Actor Adam Driver, who played Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, starred in an SVU season 13 episode entitled "Theatre Tricks." This was before Driver became a star. He played a stalker of an actress at the center of the episode's case. His performance was strong, and you can see the seeds of his dark-side character from Star Wars.
Actress Ming-Na Wen, unlike Driver, was already a famous name when she starred in the season four episode, "Debt." Wen starred and voiced Fennec Shand in the Star Wars franchise, in several live-action and animated series on Disney Plus.
In her turn on SVU, she played a woman who was forced into prostitution with her family due to being in debt with a criminal group.
In 2019, the episode of SVU, "Assumptions," aired. A powerful performance came from actress Nazneen Contractor, who played a Muslim woman who is assaulted outside her synagogue. This may be a deep dive for Star Wars fans, but Contractor voiced the character of Snyara San on Star Wars: Resistance. It was a family animated series that ran for two seasons on the Disney Channel. She played a pirate turned resistance fighter.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to come to theaters on May 22. What many fans of both SVU and Star Wars might be surprised to know is that the main actor from the film is also among the many stars who passed through the Law & Order franchise before their big break.
Pedro Pascal, who plays Din Djarin, once guest starred on the crime show, appearing in the season 12 finale, "Smoked," where he played a dirty cop. Now for fans of the science fiction franchise, they can hope he keeps his noble character arc as the Mandalorian.
As fans celebrate the return of next season of SVU, they can look back at some older episodes this summer. Possibly now they can see the links to the galaxy that is far, far away.
