It's been five years since the sitcom Mom completed its eight-season run on CBS, and not a day has gone by when fans haven't missed its unique brand of laughs. Few other sitcoms have managed to expertly balance real-life drama with laugh-out-loud level comedy, but the series defied the odds and became a one of a kind series. Not to mention, the ensemble cast was as good as it gets.
Well, the stars of the series are about to stage an exciting reunion in the new season of Netflix's sitcom Leanne, which was also co-created by Mom co-creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre. While Kristen Johnston announced that Leanne season 2 wrapped filming and will premiere on Netflix this summer, her Mom co-star Jaime Pressly dropped a reveal of her own.
In the comments of Johnston's Instagram post announcing production's end on the sitcom, fellow Mom star Jaime Pressly wrote, "Congratulations lady! So happy I got to be a part of it! Proud of you always." Johnston responded, "People are gonna freak out when they see you." Pressly's guest starring role in the Netflix series' new season hadn't been formally announced until now!

Jaime Pressly lands guest star role in Leanne season 2
There's no word just yet on who Jaime Pressly will be playing in Leanne season 2 or whether she will appear in only one episode or recur in multiple episodes. No matter what she gets up to with Johnston and Leanne Morgan in season 2, the Emmy Award-winning My Name Is Earl star will be hilarious and bring even more laughs to the breakout hit comedy.
This marks the first time Johnston and Pressly have reunited onscreen since Mom ended its run on CBS in 2021 after eight seasons. Neither actress were part of the sitcom's original cast, with Pressly making her debut as Jill in season 2, becoming a series regular from season 3 until the end, and Johnston arriving as Tammy in season 5 and joining the main cast for the last two seasons.

Leanne was already a Mom reunion in and of itself due to Johnston working with Chuck Lorre and fellow Mom executive producer Nick Bakay again, but Pressly's confirmed appearance in season 2 marks the first major Mom star to guest star in the Netflix hit. It's always a thrill when former cast members reunite in new projects, and that thankfully happens often in Lorre's shows.
Many actors who have appeared on Mom have ended up in new roles in Lorre's other productions. Will Sasso appeared in Mom as Jill's husband Andy, and he's now a series regular in the Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. Emily Osment, the star of the aforementioned CBS sitcom, also appeared in a memorable guest role on Mom before being cast in Young Sheldon.
Those are only a few relevant examples of the Lorre sitcom universe's casting crossovers, and we're so lucky to be getting another. Netflix hasn't revealed the full list of guest stars who are set to appear in Leanne season 2, but Pressly kicking off the excitement with the casual announcement of her role couldn't be more fitting. We can't wait to see this Mom reunion on Netflix this summer!
