Lopez vs Lopez won't air any more new episodes in 2024 (but the wait isn't too long)

TV shows are either already on or entering their winter breaks. It's the same for Lopez vs. Lopez, but this break isn't as long as other shows.

Are you ready for more of the Lopez family? Of course you are, but we do have to start this post with a bit of bad news. Lopez vs. Lopez season 3 will have no more new episodes in 2024.

Don’t worry; the show hasn’t been canceled! This isn’t the end of the road. It’s just that the series has hit its fall finale, and now we wait for new episodes. This break is normal, and every show across the broadcast networks are taking this break. The good news is that the wait for more of this comedy isn’t as long as most other shows.

When will Lopez vs. Lopez return with new episodes?

The series will head back to our screens on Friday. Jan. 3. It will follow new episodes of Happy’s Place again, bringing us a normal Friday night lineup in the New Year. The two comedies are the first shows to return in 2025 across all networks!

Of course, eyes are going to be on whether there’s a renewal or not. We would love to see George and Mayan return for another season, but what does NBC say? So far, there is no cancellation or renewal news about the show, which isn’t surprising at this point in the schedule. NBC will want some of the midseason shows to return first.

As I look at TV Series Finale, I am a little worried about the fate of the series. It is at the bottom of all scripted shows on the network in the demo and total audience. The saving grace is that it airs on a Friday, and the networks tend to expect lower ratings on this night.

Why is Lopez vs. Lopez on a break?

Are the low linear ratings the reason for the show being off? Not at all, although the ratings do play a part. It’s not the show’s specific ratings, but the fact that linear ratings take a dip across the board this time of year. People spend time doing other things rather than watching their favorite shows, so the networks don’t want to risk anything.

This also helps with spacing out the episodes. There are more weeks than episodes in the regular September to May schedule, which means weeks off have to happen. A longer break at Christmas helps with this.

Lopez vs. Lopez will return on Friday, Jan. 3 at 8:30/7:30c on NBC. Catch up on the series on Peacock.
