It seems CBS is about to stage a mini NCIS and Matlock crossover of sorts this April! No, the two shows are not crossing over – though we would certainly love to see Matty and Olypmia face off against the NCIS team – but fans are about to see a familiar face from the Matlock cast crossing over into NCIS as part of the guest cast of the show’s April 14 episode!
Yael Grobglas, who plays jury consultant Shae Banfield on Matlock, will make a guest appearance in NCIS season 23, episode 14, playing a pivotal role in the case of the week.
Grobglas will be playing Navy lieutenant Rebecca Lee in the episode, who resurfaces a year after her plane went missing. The circumstances around her disappearance never quite added up, and it seems that the NCIS team will have quite a mystery on their hands. As they investigate the case, they’ll come to uncover the crash seems to have been anything but accidental, with every answer they receive along the way leading to yet another new twist.
While few details about Grobglas’s character have been revealed, Matlock fans can expect to see a completely different side of Grobglas on NCIS.
“It's a really interesting character, a completely different world, which is a blast. I get to go do something completely different over there, flex some different muscles and try out different stuff, and then come back to Shae. It was fantastic, and I'm really excited to see it,” Grobglas told Matt Webb Mitovich’s Inside Line.
It’s certainly going to be fun to see how Grobglas fits into the NCIS episode, and it’ll be fun to see her stretch her acting chops via the guest appearance.
April is shaping up to be quite the month for Grobglas, whose character takes center stage in Matlock’s April 2 episode, “The Cavalry Isn't Coming,” which sees Matty and Olympia working to clear Shae’s name after her arrest for allegedly bribing a juror.
It's going to be interesting to see how Shae handles being on the other side of the table on trial with her future on the line. If Matty and Olympia are unable to get the charges thrown out and this goes to trial, we imagine Shae will take a very hands-on approach with her case by putting her jury management skills to use in hopes of assembling the best possible jury for her trial.
Given her reputation as being a bit of a human lie detector, it's going to be interesting to see what complications could come Matty's way in working so closely with Shae. The pair haven't exactly seen eye to eye in the past, but with Matty being Shae's best chance at clearing her name, this could be a true turning point for the pair.
