It’s been three years since NCIS: Los Angeles ended after a terrific 14-season run on CBS. Since then, we haven’t heard much about the characters, with the exception of Sam Hanna (LL Cool J), who moved on to the third and final season of NCIS: Hawaii. Sam recently popped up on NCIS and will be leading a brand-new NCIS: New York spinoff this fall.
Speaking on the NCIS: Partners & Probies podcast with Brian Dietzen and Diona Reasonover, Daniela Ruah was asked about her NCIS: Los Angeles character Kensi Blye. That included what happened with Kensi and her husband, Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen). The pair ended the show having adopted a teen runaway, and Kensi discovered she was pregnant.
“In my opinion, I think they’re back to work. I think they both love what they do far too much. I think they’re both back to work, and I think Mama Deeks is probably helping out with raising little ninja baby Kensi. It was never established, but I don’t know. I feel like Kensi would have a tough little girl.”
It’s a great callback to the pair who started out with some banter before going on a date in season 5, leading to their eventual season 10 wedding. Ruah praised the “very natural progression” of the pair’s relationship as the reason their eventual marriage worked.
“I thought it was a progression that made sense. I think we always knew off the bat that it would somehow lead in that direction. And Eric and I have great chemistry. For those who don’t know, we’re actually family members at this point,” referencing how she’s married to Eric’s brother, David Olsen.
That was a good hint at Kensi and Deeks’ status now, but could either return to NCIS?

Could Kensi and Deeks return to NCIS?
Ruah did make a brief cameo in NCIS’s landmark 1000th episode and has directed episodes of both NCIS and the Hawaii spin-off. That led to the obvious question of whether she’d return to the franchise, and her answer was easy.
“Sure. Absolutely, of course, of course. I love it. People have said multiple times, 'Are you afraid of becoming just attached to this character?' And it’s like, no. I played her for so long. She is me. I am her. … I think it would be so fun.”
It’s easy to see some of Sam’s former L.A. teammates stop by the New York spin-off, either for a visit or to aid on a case. Or the regular NCIS series can have a crossover with the L.A. crew. It’s uncertain if that will happen, but it’s great to imagine seeing this fan-favorite couple back on NCIS once again.
