NCIS and NCIS: Origins are officially on their winter breaks. We tend to see CBS shows return in early to mid-January, but that’s not happening in 2025. We have to wait a little longer than we’d like.
In some good news, the shows will still return in January 2025. It’s just going to be at the end of the month instead of the beginning. This isn’t too surprising when you consider that the shows had a later finish compared to other network shows. While NBC and ABC aired a lot of midseasons in November and early December, CBS waited until as close to Christmas as possible.
When will NCIS season 22 return with new episodes?
NCIS season 22 will return on Monday, Jan. 27. Episodes will air at 9/8c as usual. This is the night that all Monday night comedies and dramas on CBS will return.
When the show returns, we’ll get to meet the woman who owns the bakery that Parker keeps going to. It turns out that she’s being blackmailed, and he wants the team to get to the bottom of it. I do have to wonder if there’s something fishy going on with her, though.
When will NCIS: Origins return with new episodes?
As mentioned, all Monday shows are returning on Monday, Jan. 27. That includes NCIS: Origins, which will return at 10/9c.
We’ve now seen when and how Gibbs killed Hernandez, the man responsible for his wife and daughter’s murders. However, there is still a lot to learn about events that led to Shannon and Kelly’s deaths. There is someone close to him who was meant to be there at the time.
Why this long break is actually good for NCIS and Origins
While we don’t like having to wait until the end of January for the shows to return, the wait is actually a good thing. With the wait now, it means that there are fewer weeks to cover with the episodes in the season. That helps to limit the need to take breaks in the middle of the schedule later on.
Consistency is important in storytelling. People don’t like to have breaks in the schedule, and the inconsistency can lead to questions about when the shows are back. People miss episodes, and then they struggle to catch up before the finales. As fewer people watch, there’s a higher risk of cancellations. Opting for a longer break now, at a time of year we expect the break, makes more sense.
NCIS and NCIS: Origins return on Monday, Jan. 27 starting at 9/8c on CBS.
