Get ready for a Big Bang Theory reunion on Night Court! See who Mayim Bialik is playing on the NBC sitcom!
Fans of Night Court are already used to the comedic styling of star Melissa Rauch thanks to her years on The Big Bang Theory. While she wasn't part of the original cast, Rauch soon connected with fans as Bernadette, showing fantastic comedic chops and a great style. She rose up with a marriage to Howard as well as raising a family.
She was a good contrast to Mayim Bialik as the former Blossom star was also notable on the series as Amy, Sheldon's future wife. After TBBT ended, Rauch moved on to Night Court, a sequel series to the 1984-1992 NBC sitcom. She plays Abby Stone, daughter of Judge Harry Stone (the late Harry Anderson), who now presides over the same Manhattan courthouse that sees a flood of weirdos.
The show has already staged one TBBT reunion as Kunal Hayyar appeared as a fashion designer. Now, Rauch and Bialik are coming together onto the show in a great turn!
Who will Mayim Bialik play on Night Court?
As revealed by Entertainment Weekly, Bialik will be playing a unique role: Herself. Rather, a heightened version of herself who shows up in court as a defendant. Abby is a huge fan of Blossom, the 1990s sitcom that made Bialik a star and they bond only for Abby to suspect Bialik is stalking her.
Bialik talked of how it felt to reunite with Rauch and how there will be references to TBBT.
"It feels like I should be dressed like Amy and she should be dressed like Bernadette. There's definitely a lot of surreal moments and just a huge nostalgia factor. Melissa and I were next to each other for nine years of our lives and shared a huge section of our time together, as did the entire cast. She and I were brought on together in season 4 on Big Bang, so we really trudged a very similar path in terms of our timing…The episode is kind of meta in the most meta way. Not fully breaking the fourth wall, but breaking the fourth wall of the mind of the audience."
It's not just Rauch that Bialik is reuniting with, as she had a recurring role on The John Larroquette Show, playing the daughter of Larroquette (who reprises his role as Dan Fielding on Night Court).
There's no air date yet for the episode as Season 3 won't premiere until Tuesday, Nov. 19. Yet this should be a great episode and might pave the way for other TBBT stars to pop in and make Night Court a funnier ride for fans.
Season 3 of Night Court premieres Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 8:30/7:30c on NBC.
