After that shocking death in 911 season 8, the series is taking a break tonight (April 24)

911 season 8 has brought the biggest death in the show's eight-year run, and now it's heading on a break.

911 season 8 just delivered its biggest moment of the season. In fact, it was the biggest moment of the year. And now we need to wait to see how the 118 and Athena grieve their loss. There isn’t a new episode of 911 on tonight, Thursday, April 24.

This break was something ABC warned up about in the promo for the new episode. It doesn’t make it any easier, though. We need to get through the grieving process along with the characters of the series.

Why isn’t there a new episode of 911 on tonight?

ABC won’t air new episodes of any TGIT show, so it’s not just 911. There also won’t be a rerun of any of the shows, and that’s due to the reasoning behind the break. The 2025 NFL Draft will take over the network for the whole night, and it’s a big moment for football fans.

In a way, we can pretend that the big death didn’t happen for just a little longer. We know that the next episode will bring us Bobby’s funeral, and maybe we shouldn’t have brushed off some of those leaks weeks ago!

When will 911 season 8 return with new episodes?

The break isn’t that long. 911 season 8, episode 16 will air on Thursday, May 1. It’s worth nothing that there are only three episodes left of the season, and all three episodes are set to focus on the grieving process for each of the characters. It’s not the last we’ve seen of Bobby Nash either, likely with him coming back in the forms of flashbacks and ghostly apparitions.

There is a ninth season of the series, although it’s going to be interesting to see how it works without Bobby. He was the heart of the 118, and it’s hard to see the series without him. 911 season 8 is sure to be a fall show, and we’re sure to see it remain on Thursdays. We’ll know more when the ABC Upfronts happen in May.

911 is available to stream on Hulu if you need to catch up.
