As we get closer and closer to May, we know what that means. Our favorite shows are going to come to an end for another season, and the Grey’s Anatomy season 21 finale will be here before we know it. So, we want as many new episodes as possible before then.
There is some bad news for tonight, Thursday, April 24. The entire TGIT lineup is taking a break, which means there isn’t a new episode of Grey’s Anatomy on tonight.
Why isn’t Grey’s Anatomy new tonight?
Not only isn’t there a new episode, there also won’t be a rerun of the series. This has nothing to do with the future of the series or ABC pushing another scripted drama. Instead, it’s all linked to sports.
ABC will air the 2025 NFL Draft, which is a big moment for football fans every year. And we see this delay in the schedule every year for the network that airs it — it’s been ABC for some time now! So, if you really want to watch an episode of Grey’s Anatomy, then you’ll need to turn your attention to Hulu.
When will Grey’s Anatomy season 21 return with new episodes?
There isn’t too long to wait for the series to return. Grey’s Anatomy season 21, episode 16 will air on Thursday, May 1, as the promo for the episode informed us. The episode will see Piper Perabo guest star in the first of her thre-episode arc as the mother of a nine-year-old needing risky brain surgery.
Amelia is struggling with the weight of the surgery, knowing that the life of a nine-year-old is in her hands. She has some bad experiences with this, losing her own son Christopher after his birth due to him being born without a brain. She doesn’t want to put that grief onto another mother.
There are just three episodes left in the season in total, with the finale airing on Thursday, May 15. The good news is the series has already been renewed, and we’re sure to see Grey’s Anatomy season 22 in fall 2025.
Grey’s Anatomy is available to stream on both Netflix and Hulu.
