Kelly Rowland doesn't do many acting gigs. At least not major ones. But the talented singer is an equally talented actress, so it's so exciting that we're going to see her in a new movie very soon! Gear up for legal thriller Mea Culpa, on Netflix Friday, Feb. 23, 2024.

We've got the trailer that the streamer released, and I just can't wait to see it! We shared it below. The seductive music and tone of the video certainly piques your interest as the video reveals how criminal defense attorney Mea Harper (Rowland) chooses to represent Zyair Malloy in court as he's accused of murdering his girlfriend.

But it's clear that the seductive artist is hard to read and maintains his innocence that someone is setting him up. Is that true, or is he behind the crime? Plus, the line between attorney and client begins to get blurry when Mea falls for his charms. Plus, um. She's married (more on that below). Yikes! Check out the trailer and official synopsis from Netflix below:

"When criminal defense attorney Mea Harper takes on the murder case of artist Zyair Malloy, the truth isn't as obvious as it seems. While she tries to determine the innocence or guilt of her cagy-yet-seductive client, it is uncovered that everyone is guilty of something. Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa explores what happens when burning desire takes hold and things get hot... and dangerous."

The term "mea culpa" means acknowledging one's fault or error. And I think that seems to say it all. With this being a thriller, there's a good chance Zyair really is guilty and he gets Mea under his spell. But perhaps the story will surprise us. We'll have to wait and see! But I certainly really look forward to seeing Rowland in this role. Just from the trailer she's got my attention!

The one and only Tyler Perry serves as writer, director, and producer of the movie. Mea Culpa also stars Trevante Rhodes as Zyair; Sean Sagar as Mea's husband Kal; Nick Sagar as Mea's brother-in-law Ray (who is also Sean's real-life brother!); and RonReaco Lee as Jimmy, a private investigator who Mea hires to look into Zyair.

According to Netflix's TUDUM, Mea's brother-in-law Ray is the Assistant District Attorney and is trying to become mayor. When she takes on the case opposite him, this causes some "conflict with her family." And the streamer teases that as Ray tries to get that higher position, "he gets caught up in his own web of lies." Elsewhere, Mea and her husband Kal are having a rough patch in their marriage due to finances and Kal losing his job. There's so many elements to this movie. It's definitely going to be a great watch!

Mea Culpa begins streaming Friday, Feb. 23, 2024 on Netflix.
